07 Deepkolt 349 AC EN ROUTE TO TARITHNESTI Beneath the sheltering canopy of the trees, Kysek floats along, just inches above the ground. The dragon circled, searching for the gold elf wizard that had charmed its rider while the conjured sword pursued it. Kysek, concealed by his ring of invisibility, kept to the shadows, moved as if he wasn't magically hidden. He knew better than to trust such a simple illusion to deceive a dragon's other senses. Realizing that Raven has somehow found him; Kysek keeps the conjured sword moving toward its target and strikes. He stays out of sight utilizing his ring, but pays attention to still stick to shadows and move silently. He wills the sword to continue its assault on the dragon whose rider he just dispatched. The blade flies straight and true, slashing the green behemoth across its chest before darting away. Meanwhile, Raven arrests his fall away from the other jade-hued wyrm and flies back up at its underbelly. Nightwatcher flashes....

07 Deepkolt 349 AC EN ROUTE TO TARITHNESTI Kysek watches Dusk as she runs off into the woods. He turns, peering through the branches, and pulls out a scroll. The parchment cracks as the elf unrolls it. He begins to read. The ink begins to glow and smoke as each word is spoken aloud. As the syllable leaves his lips, a sizzling hiss fills the air as a gleaming blade of pure energy made physical appears. Kysek points and the sword flies through the air, slashing at the wizard-bearing wyrm as if wielded by an invisible hand, slicing through the scales on the side of its snout. The green dragon jerks its head to one side as the blade hits, forcing wyrm and rider to split their attention as Raven flies past. The dragon's head whips around, emerald jaws snapping shut where he had been a heartbeat earlier. Raven twists aside, avoiding fangs the size of a dagger. The robed rider turns in the saddle, eyes widening as the warrior closes. Despite the danger, a smug smile spreads across the...

07 Deepkolt 349 AC EN ROUTE TO TARITHNESTI The wind roared past Kysek’s ears. The chemical stench of the first dragon's chlorine breath still clung to Dusk. The elf twisted in his saddle, craning his neck to get a good look at the lance-wielding rider closing on him from behind and cast a spell. Arcane power gathered around him, invisible tendrils of energy stretched out toward the mind of the rider. Kysek pushed his thoughts forward, searching for an opening in the man's concentration and, upon finding it, slipped inside. The rider stiffened suddenly in his saddle. For a brief moment, he appeared confused. Then his expression went blank as his resistance crumbled against Kysek’s mental assault. Kysek tells the lance wielding rider the other dragon rider has turned on him. He tells him he must strike the other dragon and rider first to gain the upper hand. There can be no mercy! The command flowed through the magical link joining the elf's mind to that of the rider. T...

07 Deepkolt 349 AC EN ROUTE TO TARITHNESTI Kysek triggers his wand of lightning. The bolt leaps from the enchanted baton and streaks through the air toward the rider atop the second dragon. The blast strikes an invisible field surrounding the rider and dissipates harmlessly. Dusk beats her wings rapidly, picking up speed as she heads straight toward the other dragon's rider. As she draws closer, the aura of terror that surrounds the wyrm's washes over her. Kysek the sense of impending doom that comes with facing such powerful creatures. The elf calls up the discipline developed over more than a century to steel his nerves. His griffon has no such tools to work with. Her eyes go wide with terror. She panics, breaking and diving toward the cover of the trees. The dragons bank, turning after their much smaller target. The first dragon exhales a poisonous cloud of gas. Dusk plunges straight into the caustic fumes. Kysek manages to cover his face and hands with his cloak, avoidi...

07 Deepkolt 349 AC EN ROUTE TO TARITHNESTI “Damnit! We’ve been tricked! A damn illusion!” Kysek shouts. “They know we’re coming! This was meant as a distraction and to give away our position! No matter! We’ve got this!” the elf adds. He brings Dusk back to the tree tops and turns an 45-degree angled path to the right of what his original trajectory was. He sticks to the trees and shadows of the forest intent on changing his arrival approach after being  duped into giving away his position. The two now fly for the city. No stopping; only watching for something that can actually attack. The forest rushes past in a blur of frost-covered trees. Needles and leaves are dragged along in Dusk's wake as the mighty griffon races along. Branches whip by, dangerously close as she weaves between bough and limb at a reckless pace. Kysek’s eyes dart to and fro, searching for enemies ahead. Bubo clings to his shoulder, the owl watches the sky and their back trail. For several tense minutes, the...
