Day Four of The Odinsleep (In the Garden of Idunn - The Walls of Asgard)

Image
Day Four of the Odinsleep (7:33 am) Idunn turns and faces the group, extending one graceful hand to Cedron, “Come.  I know a place atop the wall where we can watch the battle.”  She glances toward Kysek, “Mayhap, it will set some of your minds at ease if we are in a position to lend our strength if needed.” Kysek eyes the goddess warily, “My mind will ease when I compete the tasks before me and finally reunite with my wife and child, not before milady.” Ra’ziir nudges Kysek with his elbow, “Cheer up!  We’ll be home before you know it!”  He throws the former thief a wink and smiles broadly, trying to lighten the mood, “TO THE WALL, I SAY!  LET US AWAY!”  With that, Ra’ziir begins heading toward the wall, leaping and bounding, veritably dancing his way toward the massive fortifications.  He sings to himself as he strides along the orchard path. “TO THE WALL!” Shadow adds, caught up in the bladesinger’s infectious cheer. The Condiment King

Image
I was watching YouTube yesterday and “The Return of the Condiment King” popped up in my suggested videos list.   For those of you who don’t remember, Condiment King was introduced back in the Bat-Man: The Animated Series and has made multiple appearances in the comics, the Bat-Man Lego Movie, and in a couple of other places in the intervening years.   I sat down, watched the video, did a little Googling and promptly adapted him into the d20 system for use as a possible NPC.   (And for you Grognards out there, I’ve included an AD&D 2nd edition version as well). DC Canon lists two “real” names for this character – Mitchell Mayo and Buddy Standler.   In my version of this character, Mitchell is the real name as “Buddy” is a stage name for his career as a stand-up comedian.   I abbreviated some of Mitchell’s history, leaving out his exposure to the Joker Toxin (during the events of Joker’s Last laugh) but did include his confinement to Arkham Asylum due to t...

Day Four of the Odinsleep (7:32 am) Idunn opens her mouth to speak but stops short as a wide smile spreads across her face.   Cedron turns to see where the goddess’ gaze is directed and sees the long-bearded Bragi stepping out from around a bend in the path.   The two gods approach each other and kiss and then Idunn’s husband speaks, “I would have you protect my bride.   My beautiful darling was once kidnapped by the Jotun and I would not have that happen again.   What say you, all of you?” Idunn frowns, “How can you do that?   How can you shame me in front of new people?   These mortals barely know me and now, because of your wagging tongue, are wont as not to assume I am some feeble lass who cannot be entrusted to care for her safety.” Bragi stammers, “M-m-my Love, I meant nothing ill by my words, I just…” The goddess cuts him off, “Your ‘meaning’ means nothing.   I was much younger then, and none the wiser to Loki’s scheming.   Suc...
