Chlorokill

Chlorokill is an antagonist (and one of Earth-218’s first supervillains) that my players will encounter in the 1920s portion of our current campaign (his level will be adjusted to a point where he is an appropriate challenge for the group).  Based in part on Swamp Thing and Bushroot from Darkwing Duck, Dr. Anatoly Yasen, is a Russian immigrant to the United States, and had been a victim of famine in his homeland.  He had been experimenting with a means of creating human photosynthesis but he was bullied by several of his colleges who exposed him to his formula, hoping to embarrass him in front of the research center administrator’s beautiful daughter.  The formula worked but he was transformed into a half-man/half-plant hybrid.  The transformation drove him mad and he killed his co-workers and then turned his attention on attacking meat packing plants in Chicago.  The party will run into him when they investigate these attacks.

Mutant: Gain three “levels” worth of powers (3 Standard or 1 Improved and 1 Standard).  Optional Charisma penalty (-3 Cha in exchange for 1 additional “level” of power); +4 bonus on their initial Energy scores, LA +1; Metahuman is preferred class for multiclass purposes
Powers:
• Standard Life Support: ChloroKill has no need to eat, drink, or breathe.  He simply absorbs his nutrients from his environment
•Standard Natural Armor: ChloroKill’s bark-like skin provides him with a +4 Natural armor bonus.
• Standard Natural Weapons: (Energy Cost: 3; Duration: 1 minute/level; continuous); Chlorokill can sprout thorns or vines from his body to engage his enemies.  The thorns deal 1d6 damage to opponents he grapples with or use the vines to constrict for 1d4 damage each.  When the duration expires, the vines or thorns shrivel up and are shed.
                 Reducer: Uses energy
• Standard Regeneration: heal 1 hp/level/2 hours of normal activity (1 hp/2 levels/4 hours of extreme activity or 1.5 hp/level/1 hour of complete rest).
Reducer: Uses energy at the same rate of healing
• Improved Damage Resistance (All): ChloroKill’s thick outer coating reduces damage from all attacks by one-third.  If the attack allows a saving throw, it is made before Damage Resistance is applied.
• Standard Brawn: +10 Str; uses Dex instead of Str to determine attack bonus, Carrying Capacity: 306 lbs/613 lbs. /920 lbs.; push/drag 4,600 lbs.
• Standard Meta-Sense (Tremorsense): ChloroKill is sensitive to vibrations and can automatically pinpoint the location of anything within 60’ that is in contact with the ground.
                 Reducer: Tremorsense only

Weaknesses:

• Obvious Mutant – ChloroKill’s physical appearance marks him as a mutant.
• Only regains energy points if exposed to daylight
• Blind – ChloroKill’s eyes have been covered over with the same bark-like material that replaced his skin.  Only shallow divots remain where his eyes once were.  While his tremsorsense allows him to compensate somewhat for this limitation, he is unable to see color or fine detail.  Additionally, he is unable to sense anything that is not in contact with the ground.

* Metahuman class is taken from the Paragon rulebook by D. Jon Mattson (a.k.a. Cwylric)
