Hansuke - The Legend Continues; Skirmish at the Bifrost

16 Feb 1371 07:00:00 (2621 Shou calendar)

The spearmen rush toward Hansuke and the three travelers. The tattooed monk breaks into a sprint and calls upon his Abundant Bù Zhòu technique, vanishing instantly and reappearing less than a moment later mere feet from the volatile holy man. With a shout of "TATSUMAKI SENPOKYAKU!", he leaps into the air. The heel of his foot connects with the priest's jaw, snapping the man's head sideways and sending him staggering in a circle.

The opposing samurai swings his tetsubo at Hansuke. The tattooed monk's hand comes up, striking the underside of the iron-studded staff, pushing it up and away from his head while simultaneously ducking the blow.

The monk Geylan intercepts the soldiers closing on him, the fingers of both his hands curled to resemble claws. He slashes with his hands, taking two men across the face while kicking a third in the knee. Jug leaps into the fray, parrying a pair of spear thrusts before decapitating two of his attackers. The remaining peasants spread out, giving the samurai a wide berth.

Jamkkan brandishes a silken fan, snapping it open with one smooth gesture and sweeps the air in front of him. A powerful zephyr accompanies that movement and the three spear-wielding fighters are halted in their tracks, unable to make headway against the powerful gust, giving the not-so-simple merchant time to reach into his kimono for another hidden weapon.

Hansuke presses forward, ignoring the tetsubo-wielding samurai for the moment and cries "HYAKU RETSU HARIATE"! The tattooed monk follows his battlecry with a rapid barrage of knees, fists, and elbows. The priest, already staggered by a flying kick to the head, collapses beneath the onslaught.

Hansuke instinctively dodges a skull-crushing blow from the samuari's iron-studded staff. As he spins, he grabs the edge of the sunede of the warrior's left leg and pulls hard, throwing the fight off balance. When the samurai plants the end of the tetsubo in the ground to steady himself, Hansuke rises to his feet behind the armored warrior.

Geylan swiftly dispatches his remaining spearman with a clawed strike that crushes the fighter's sternum as Jug's blade flashes silver in the early morning light and his final foe falls, bisected at the waist.

Jamkkan pulls three five-pointed shuriken from a hidden fold inside of his kimono. His flicks his wrist and sends all three of the throwing stars flying toward the spearman farthest to the left. The weapons burst into flames while flying and bury themselves in the fighter's face and neck. The man shrieks and falls, thrashing to the ground and then lays still as the stars pull out and fly back to their wielder, extinguishing themselves just before returning to Jamkkan's hand.

With only the armored samurai left to face him, Hansuke pivots and bends at the waist. The movement expertly slips his jade naginata off of his back and rolls it down his arm into his waiting hand. The tattooed monk shouts, "NAGAI TOTATSU SUIRYOKU!" as he drops to one knee and thrusts with the weapon. The blade, magically hardened and enchanted to be even more deadly to dishonorable foes, pierces the warrior between the shoulder blades and bursts out through his chest.

The remaining spearman scream in panic, thrown down their weapons, and begin to run away as fast as their legs will carry them. Jug begins to take up a pursuit but Geylan raises one hand, indicating that they should be allowed to flee.

Jamkkan makes his way over to the priest, murmurs a few words and waves his fingers over the body. He pulls open the man's robe and takes a small flask, removes a ring, and, finally, a tanto dagger. He looks up, gazes at the samurai and squints his eyes, "His armor and weapon are lightly enchanted but too cumbersome to bring along but grab that sake flask at his hip. I will determine its function tonight.".
