07 Deepkolt 349 AC AT THE OTHER FARMHOUSE As Kysek sends Bubo ahead; he instructs his raptor companion to search the left and right sides of the tracks the enemies left as they came in and to report anything out of the ordinary. Kysek himself follows the tracks as they lie. He stays silent and unseen as he moves forward. He goes out approximately a quarter-mile, searching for any signs of reinforcements following behind the initial attackers. He searches the ground and keeps an eye to the skies as well. The pair finds plenty of tracks and follows them back toward where they came from. They eventually reach the Thon-Thalus River where they locate three rowboats pulled up onto the shore. Bubo flies to the far bank and looks around. There are dozens, if not hundreds of footprints in the mud and melted snow going in numerous directions. Kysek sends a message to Romulus; “There are more! Prepare! Release Dusk! I’ll meet her in the tree tops!” He instructs Bubo to circle and find any signs...

Adventures in Feather Falls

In 1987 the Forgotten Realms grey box was released.   As far as I know it was the first product to include a calendar and more importantly, for purposes of today’s story, a listing of “current events” that could be used as adventure seeds.   One of the events mentioned was the death of the wizard Cholandrothipe, the wizard of Feather Falls .     His murder was blamed on the Red Wizards of Thay.   But what motive did the Red Wizards have for this crime?   No “canon” answer has ever been provided so I would like to present the following scenario…   The Red Wizards killed Cholandrothipe – this is accepted as fact.   Again, we ask why.   What reason could they have had? Road Trip to the Dragon Isles - Khuri-Khan

The Generation Spanning Campaign

(No.  Not that kind) I have been toying with an idea of late.  Last summer, I wrote out a Western campaign (that I am still waiting to run) based on a combination of the old Boot Hill Modules with some Deadlands and Fistful of Zombies thrown in.  I had also planned another set of adventures using the Gangbusters boxed set and modules mixed with Cthulhu by Gaslamp.  And then I said, "what if the characters in the 20's are the grandchildren of the characters from the Western?" How far could I take that idea?  What if the characters from the Western were the great-great-great-great-great-grandchildren of another group from the American Revolution?  And what if the children from the 20's characters were involved in the fighting during World War II?  What if there was an overarching story that combined elements of each of these campaigns? The West Canyon Campaign

The West Canyon Chronicles Last spring, while working on a way to incorporate Boot Hill into my play-by-post fantasy campaign, I started bouncing story ideas around for a crossover.   I was also looking at tourist-y things to do with my kids when they came out to visit for the summer and I learned that the area I was living in was rife with possibilities for a mixed supernatural and historically-themed Wild West campaign with mystery and adventure around every bend.   I used the basic geography of the region (Spanish Fork Canyon) as the basis for the setting, converted the town of Glister into Cactus Brush, and used the old Boot Hill modules Mad Mesa, Ballots and Bullets, and Burned Bush Wells as a starting point.   As I began to write, ideas literally flowed through me.   I wanted more than the standard Western setting that Boot Hill reflected and began incorporating horror elements with a little bit of Deadlands and Fistful of Zombies thro...
