A Work in Progress

I thought I would share a work in progress with you today. In a sequel I am planning for my Western Campaign, I have been thinking about having the party use a dirigible as a mobile headquarters and home away from home. Set in the 1920s, I envision pulp-era adventures as the party travels the globe, battling mad scientists, Cthulhu-worshipping cultists, rum-running gangsters, vampires, and werewolves alongside Sherlock Holmes or Dick Tracy. I am still putting a plot together and I still need to tie it all in to my ongoing story and generate stats and room descriptions and other flavor text but, for a rough draft, I am pretty pleased with what I have so far.

Rough drawing of what I have in mind

Historically, the gondola of even the largest airships wasn't as massive as what I have in mind and certainly, none were ever used as an aircraft carrier but I think this is a situation where the "rule of cool" can be applied.

In a fantasy-based game, the lower hangar could be used for hippogriffs or giant eagles launching from the airship to engage foes on the ground. The electrical generator would be replaced by a bound genie or elemental to provide motive power and the radio room could have a crystal ball or ring of sending to communicate with their homeland or sponsoring kingdom.

On Earth-218, this airship will also serve as the in-game inspiration for the development of the S.H.I.E.L.D helicarriers.
