"Oh No, Not Goblins!"

"Oh no! Not goblins," one of my players sarcastically exclaimed (possibly with eye-rolling) when his 12th level Fighter, accompanied by an 8th-ish level Evoker and 8th-ish level Ranger, stumbled across a pack of blue-skinned goblins in the Jungles of Chult. That was before the goblin began combat by stunning the Evoker and Ranger with a mind blast. As the fighter scrambled to protect his unconscious allies from the goblin warriors, the player began to regret the hasty conclusion that the little monsters wouldn't prove to be a challenge at all.

Deepwater (population - just over 200) The Armadillo in overalls sidled up to the Screamin' Demon and asked, "What kin I do ya for? Just a fill-up? Check the oil and tires?" He turned and called over his shoulder, "MA! Git out here, woman!" A moment later, a second Armadillo, this one with a faded floral dress and a pair of eyeglasses perched atop her head, emerged from the store. She looked at the Trans Am and then the line of rigs pulling in behind it. "Howdy, boys! Dodge! Earl Jr! Come on out here and help your daddy! See if them drivers want anythin' besides gas!" He just looks so dang happy. - probably my favorite character from the town. "That's the old post office," he announced, pointing toward a weather-beaten cinderblock building. "Mr. Wilkins still delivers the mail, but mostly it's just stuff folks send each other." (Which is exactly what it is in real-life, too). An elderly zombie in a faded postal uniform was sorting envelopes beside a bicycle. "Hi, Mr. Wilkins!" The zombie raised a hand and moaned, "Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa" in response. (Classic zombie dialog! I love this guy!)
