Scent (Ex): A creature with the scent ability can detect opponents by sense of smell, generally within 30 feet. If the opponent is upwind, the range is 60 feet. If it is downwind, the range is 15 feet. Strong scents, such as smoke or rotting garbage, can be detected at twice the ranges noted above. Remy can also detect poisons with his sense of smell. He can identify different ingredients in a dish and determine what combinations of foods, herbs, and spices will be the most appetizing, granting him a +2 bonus when using his sense of smell to cook.

Skill Versatility (Ex): Experts may select any 10 skills as Class Skills. Remy's skills are Appraise (Int), Balance (Dex), Climb (Dex), Craft (Int), Hide (Dex), Knowledge (Local) (Int), Move Silently (Dex), Perform (Cha), Profession (Wis), and Swim (Dex).

• Rats have a +4 racial bonus on Hide and Move Silently checks, and a +8 racial bonus on Balance, Climb, and Swim checks. A rat can always choose to take 10 on Climb checks, even if rushed or threatened. A rat uses its Dexterity modifier instead of its Strength modifier for Climb and Swim checks. A rat has a +8 racial bonus on any Swim check to perform some special action or avoid a hazard. It can always choose to take 10 on a Swim check, even if distracted or endangered. It can use the run action while swimming, provided it swims in a straight line.

Using Remy in a campaign: Remy the Rat could serve serve most easily as a Wizard's familiar in a fantasy world. Perhaps he has come into possession of a magical cookbook your party needs. He would easily fit it with the OWCA (Organization Without a Cool Acronym), working alongside Agent P. to thwart the schemes of Dr. Doofenschmirtz. Maybe the Directorate-General for External Security would prefer Remy work closer to home and seeks to assign him in the kitchens of suspected enemies of France. Maybe your adventurers must descend into the sewers of Paris and need a reliable guide who happens to understand human speech.
