Krynn - Silvanesti (Day 1, Part 1)

The adventurers all struggle to reach sitting positions, questions tumbling through groggy, alcohol-impaired minds, those questions being primarily, "Where is Silvanesti," "How did we get here," and "Who is this King Lorac person?"

The matron opens her mouth and is about to speak when Grotto swings his feet over the side of his bed and attempts to stand. His stomach rebels, instantly and violently. The only thing that keeps him from emptying its contents onto the polished marble floor is that it is already empty. The dwarf's knees buckle as he dry heaves over and over again, struggling to catch his breath as tears roll down his cheeks.

After about a minute, three elves help him back onto the mattress, one pats his back between the shoulders while the others avert their eyes, not facing Grotto’s scarred visage directly.

Romulus, clears his throat, smiles and takes a handful of the offered foods. "I'm so hungry. It feels like i haven't eaten in a week. Hahaha!" The halfling jokes as he grabs a second handful of dried fruits and some cheese. The elves shrink away from him, making sure the utensils remain out of reach and smile back while never taking their eyes off of him.

Once Grotto’s episode is under control, the woman speaks again. "I am Lorraine of the House Physic. Before we go any further, I should like to know who YOU are and how you came to be here," the matronly elf woman replies. "For the last week, my healers have fed you broth and given you sweet water so you would neither starve or perish from thirst and we cleaned you when it became necessary. The scars you carry speak of a lifetime of war, something we haven't seen since before the Cataclysm."

Questioning looks pass between the party members. Raven "thinks" in Ra’ziir's direction, "Yet another world then, I can think of no cataclysmic events beyond the Fall of Netheril or Time of Troubles."

Drax takes the opportunity presented by the lull in conversation to quickly scan the chamber. A cursory glance reveals the personal effects of each party member is sitting at the end of each bed, equipment stacked neated, clothes washed and folded, leathers brushed and oiled, their armor cleaned and polished where applicable. He looks out the nearest window and is briefly unsettled although there is no readily apparent reason for his discomfort. It takes several seconds before he realizes that it's the trees, more specifically, their leaves. Each branch, every stick and twig, have been manicured - their leaves groomed to deliver the image of cold, impersonal, unnatural perfection. As his eyes drift, he notes a pair of elves with a ladder and pruning shears working on a neighbor to the tree immediately outside Drax's window.

The assassin files away his observations for later and returns his attention to Lorraine's words.

"...I had runners sent word to summon Onfroithalas of House Protector to speak with you. He should be arriving shortly."

"Has arrived, actually." A tall elf strides into the room. His is fair-skinned with long blond hair woven into a braid. His eyes are dark blue and his nose has a lump in the bridge showing that it had been broken at some point. His leather breeches are dark blue, his tunic is white. His jacket is dark like his pants but has silver buttons as well as a red collar and cuffs. A shortsword hangs at his hip along with a pair of daggers.

"I am faced with a mystery. A heavily armed band of foreigners penetrated to the very heart of Silvanesti undetected. They were found sleeping in a circle made of smoldering runes at the edge of the city. This, despite being so intoxicated it took them a week to sleep off their drunk. What's more," the guard scowls, "how did a pair of elves with skin the color of gold find themselves in the company of one with obsidian flesh and another with the pallor of a corpse, a half-dozen humans, a kender, and a ... dwarf," the last word is voiced with such disgust that Onfroithalas looks like he just drank soured milk. "The only thing I can be certain of is that you are not spies for any of the Dragonarmies."
