Morningmist Hall - Dagger Falls, Daggerdale

Image
Morningmist Hall is a temple dedicated to the worship of Lathander. Built by adventurers from Raven Keep on the site of a previous temple dedicated to the Morninglord in Dagger Falls, Morningmist Hall is a large domed building made of pink marble. The base of the building forms a circle 280’ across. Four smaller alcoves extend outward 40’ from the base. These alcoves serve as living quarters or meditation chambers for the clergy. The front of the building faces east, the direction of the rising sun. There are about twenty lay worshippers of Lathander in Dagger Falls but this number is climbing due to Morningmist Hall being the only center of worship in the city. The exterior walls of Morningmist Hall are 5’ thick, ceilings are of the alcoves are 20’ high, the grand walkway’s ceiling is 25’ high, and the remainder of the temple’s roof rises into a dome that reaches 50’ into the air. All interior spaces are lit by Continual Faerie Fire spells. Normal Exterior Walls...

Helping Hand Caravan Company Headquarters

Image
Back in 2nd ed, when Clerics got followers for making 10th level, I had no idea what to do with mine when they arrived.  Being a Cleric of Shaundukal, after much thought, I decided that the ones I received would form the "core" of a merchant caravan that traveled the Dalelands in search of profits and adventure.  This is the home the party built for them. The Helping Hand Caravan Company Headquarters Originally established in 1362 DR after Maurith Slindearyl returned from the Island of Sahu, the Helping Hand Caravan Company operated primarily in the Border Forest , Daggerdale, Shadowdale, Mistledale and along the southern coast of the Moonsea. The Company moved its operations to the Velen Peninsula in Tethyr by direction of Maurith to assist the Coberal Trust Company is the establishment of a trade route leading from Banshee’s Point to the city of Velen roughly 80 miles away.  The Helping Hand Company has become the core of the newly established Coberal Overland Compa...

Thordbalmek and the Mines - Beneath Raven Keep, Border Forest, the Dalelands

Image
I do not like dungeon crawls.  I don't.  Go five feet - check for traps - go five more feet - it drives me absolutely bonkers.  That said, every once in awhile, as a Dungeon Master, you find yourself needing to do one for sake of the campaign's story.  I forget what was happening that prompted the creation of Thordbalmek but I do remember that I used the 2nd ed Complete Book of Dwarves extensively to get the job done. Raven and Ra'ziir, who you may have head mentioned a time or five in the posts for my ongoing campaign , were the only PCs who braved the dwarven outpost beneath the keep.  They were nearly killed by a pair of hammer golems in the entry hall but rallied, drank some potions and pressed on.  The highlight of the adventure (at least for me), came when they reached the mess hall.  By this point, an alarm had been sounded and the defending duergar had assembled in the mess.  Ra'ziir and Raven reached the hall, opened the door, saw do...

Raven Keep - The Border Forest, Dalelands

Image
Raven Keep was the name of the fortress my players' adventuring party established in the Border Forest on the edge of Dalelands, just north of Daggerdale.  It served as their home and base of operations for the first several years of their adventuring careers.  They eventually tore down the original keep and built a new, larger keep on the site of the original one.  The keep was eventually abandoned although the party's priests and wizards warded it heavily before departing as individual members of the group had departed over the years in pursuit of their own interests. The party has finished building its expanded fortress on the site of the original Raven Keep. The main intent of the new keep’s construction was to achieve a more effective use of space while retaining the “feel” of the original structure. The new keep is surrounded by a hexagonal wall anchored on four points by watchtowers that are identical in purpose to the keep’s original towers. The remaining ...
