The Intersect (Yes, the One from Chuck)

Image
The Intersect was developed as a joint CIA/NSA project in the aftermath of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks, when the intelligence community was directed to improve cooperation and information sharing between agencies. The CIA and NSA recognized that the primary challenge was no longer the collection of information, but the ability to analyze the enormous volume of available intelligence and identify connections that individual agencies had failed to recognize.      The solution was the Intersect: a computer system capable of consolidating massive intelligence databases and encoding the information into the subconscious mind of a compatible human subject. Rather than providing information through a traditional computer interface, the Intersect allowed a user to access stored information through subconscious recognition, producing brief "flashes" triggered by relevant sensory input.      The chief architect of the Int...

Yes, But... What if it was Shadowrun (Part 4)?

Image
Again, not actually Shadowrun but heavily borrowing elements from the setting and adventure modules for my home campaign.  Raven stood in the shadows at the alley entrance. The collar of his green leather greatcoat was pulled up to ward off Seattle's seemingly ever-present rain. About halfway down the alley, the decker "Cipher Fluxblade" had plugged in to the loading dock's security pad and was running a series of complex algorithms to open the lock so the team could infiltrate the Cavilard Research Center and retrieve a file for their employer, "Ms. Johnson". The elven warrior's hand rested lightly on the hilt of Nightwatcher, the enchanted weapon's magic expanding his senses. His augmented awareness had enabled him to pick out the roving patrols of guards circling the grounds. He saw, but failed to register the threat imposed by the seemingly inert camera perched on the wall high above his head.... The Aether line of camera drones are technically o...

Yes, But... What if it was Shadowrun (Part 3)?

Image
OK, not actually Shadowrun but Earth-218 with elements of Shadowrun/Cyberpunk incorporated into sort of a neo-noir corporate dystopia on the cusp of achieving interstellar flight .  Hoverbikes have become a staple of city living with thousands plying the skylines of major metropolises from New York and Chicago to Tokyo, Delhi, and London. Commuters and couriers make extensive use of the nimble and efficient transports. Of course, like any other technology, these bikes have been modified by the military, criminals, and adventurous individuals to meet their exacting specifications.       Standard Aeris Exolvuntur Model 47 Hoverbike Crew:  1      Passengers:  1      Cargo:  5 lbs* Init:  +1      Maneuverability:  -4 Top Speed:  410 (41) in air - approx. 232 mph (flight ceiling 15,000') Defense:  10      Hardness:  5  ...

The Arboretum

Image
I haven't even finished my current campaign and I am already putting ideas together for a sequel . Presented below is a ship I based on what my household blender would look like with wings.  Raven is the ship's intended captain  and pilot but really any party member who can be expected to survive another 300 years or so could fill the role. I am strongly considering a robotic engineer and a pair of Artificial Intelligences who serve as the Sensor and Communications operators respectively.  The Arboretum Type: Ultralight Size: Colossal Subtype: Scout Ship Tactical Speed: 3500' Defense: 7 Length: 80'; Wingspan:  75' Flat-footed: 2 Weight: 275,000 pounds Autopilot Def: 5 Targeting System Bonus: +3 Hardness: 30 Crew: 4 HD: 10d20 (200 hp) Passenger Capacity: 4 Initiative Modifier: +9 Cargo Capacity: 10,000 pounds Pilot Class Bonus: +0 Grap Modifier: +16 Pilot Dex Bonus: +5 Base Purchase ...

Plutonic Capybara

Image
The Plutonic Capybara is a salvage ship that operates in the Kepler system. It is 1500' long and is capable of carrying a ship up to 600' long on its external cargo deck. The rounded bow is designed for pushing large debris away from damaged ships while its six drones assist in recovery operations. Two-thirds of the Capybara's crew have been replaced by robots who perform repair work outside on the cargo deck. The ship also engages in limited mining by grappling entire asteroids and bringing them aboard as it would a client vessel. Type: Heavy          Size: Colossal Subtype: Salvage Ship Tactical Speed: 3000' Length:  1,500' Weight:  150,000 tons HD:  300d20 (6000 hp) Defense: 7 Flat-footed: 5 Autopilot Def: 5 Initiative Modifier:  +2 Targeting System  Bonus: +3 Hardness: 20          Crew: 15 (plus 30 robots) Passenger Capacity: 200 Cargo Capacity: 80,000 ton...

T-Rex Chopper!

Image
I don't know where the idea for this came from but I found it drawn on an old napkin in the pocket of coat I hadn't worn in over a year. It might be related to the T-Rex Chomper  but otherwise, I have no context for the name. And absolutely NO IDEA why I choose La Quinta for their base of operations. In any case, I see Tyrannus and Tee being extremely eager, if incompetent, crimefighters, causing thousands of dollars of property damage every time they take to the streets. Road Gator

Road Gators appear to be bits of Tire Treads that have separated from the tires on heavy trucks . These steel-reinforced pieces, which look like an alligator's back can the 8 to 10 feet long and weigh more than 70 lbs. Most often, these creatures can be found lurking on the shoulders of haunted or cursed highways . McRobots in a Modern Campaign

Image
Robots , whether they are shapechangers or not , and innocuous-appearing animals adapted for spy missions seem to be a recurring theme for my NPCs of late. While watching videos on YouTube today, I was reminded of these little guys and promptly got to work adapting them for my campaign . Macro Mac...           Fry Force...                     Krypto Cup...                               Fry Bot...                                         Robo-Cakes...                                                 Gallacta Pounder...                         ...
