Silvanesti NPCs - Villains and Antagonists

Image
Feal-Thas' classes and levels are based on his appearance in the DL6 module " Dragons of Ice ". He was listed as a 7th level Chaotic Evil Elven Fighter/Magic-User but his THAC0 was 13, so he would have had to be an 8th level Fighter. He could cast one 4th level Wizard spell so that would have made him a 7th level Wizard. His presented ability scores were: Str: 18/35, Dex: 17, Con 10, Int 13, Wis 11, Cha 8. He had Chainmail +2, a Shield +1, and a Longsword +2. He gained a +2 bonus to hit elven characters. The description of his chambers say that he had moved all of his treasure to a secret room in the library but the only things listed in the description for that area were a desk and writing table containing a scroll and a journal written in Elven. His dragon companion, Sleet, was a female Ancient Huge White Dragon. Following the AD&D to 3e Conversion Manual, his Strength becomes 19. His Intelligence was increased to 14 to ensure he still had access to 4th Level spe...

Attack on Silvanost - Part 6 and Aftermath

Image
01 Newkolt 349 AC Kysek shakes his head. “Damned dragons!”, he states boldly. He then pulls the wand of lightning bolt from his pocket and unleashes it upon the green he blasted with cold. The bolt strikes the dragon at the base of its wing and while the beast falters, it does not fall. Shadow races after the green dragons as fast as he can. His fingers fly through a series of arcane gestures, culminating in a cry of " βολίδα!" An orange bead appears in his open palm and he hurls it towards the fleeing wyrms. The bead streaks through the air, leaving a trail of smoke in its wake before exploding between the two flying reptiles. Both dragons dip precariously, dragging their bellies across several rooftops before pulling up and making it out over the city wall. Raven cuts and kicks the wall until he makes an opening large enough to climb out of the collapsed building. Once the hole has been made, he sheathes his sword and crawls out, dangling for a moment before dropping to ...

Attack on Silvanost - Part 5

Image
01 Newkolt 349 AC Kysek takes a line that would bring him directly under one of the returning greens and hunkers down behind a mostly intact chimney, knowing that dragons would be able to see through his invisibility and waits for the approaching Greens to come within reach. Shadow watches the blues peel off and the greens tear into the building Raven ran into. He points his finger and tracks them for second before beginning the incantation to produce a small bead glowing like an ember. With a final shout of " Φωτιά Μπάλα," he releases his magic and a massive fireball erupts between this next wave of dragons. Orange and red flames wash over green scales. Both dragons, already weakened by Ra’ziir's spell of dehydration roar as their emerald hides are blackened and burned by the magical fire. Then Kysek strikes. Rising from the rooftop as the fireball fades away, he lunges at the belly of the trailing wyrm. The turbulence from the dragon flying so close to the rooftops pr...

Epoch - My Next Campaign Setting?

Image
I found a game called " Epoch " not too long. I talked about it briefly with Ra'ziir's player this weekend (in between attempting to fix the stove - found the part I needed yesterday so it's up and running again and dealing with the water leaking from the bathroom into the kitchen). In short, 20,000 years ago during the Pleistocene epoch (last ice age), somewhere on what would eventually come to be known as the Scandinavian Ice Sheet, we find a band of hunters.... Vast regions of the world are covered in ice. Humans are slowly clawing their way to dominance over the declining Neanderthals and nearly extinct Cro Magnons. Every day is a struggle for survival. Rival tribes competing for territory, dangerous predators, freezing cold, and vengeful spirits all threaten your very existence. You are either one of the Bone Children (Neanderthal) or Stone People (Homo sapiens), a member of a hunting party - hominids eking out an existence in a hostile world. Your party is...

Attack on Silvanost - Part 4

01 Newkolt 349 AC With the second red dragon slain in the street, Kysek whispers, " Μύγα," and takes to the air and seeks out what will become the next victim of his plan. The elf thinks to himself, ‘The red may have been able to avoid it; the ones in the air have little chance.” As he begins to ready his spell, he notices the flight of green dragons rapidly making their return. “Good boy, Spewer! Now, get back here.” Shadow drops below and slightly behind the dragon, launching an attack while its rider screams in agony. His flying purple claymore slashes at the dragon's belly. The blade penetrates deeply into the dragon's armpit, sinking deeply enough to nick the wyrm's heart. An ear-splitting roar erupts from the beast’s throat, shattering windows and sending glass raining into the street below. The dark elf swoops in, Swiftwind at the ready, and launches a flurry of blows. The first stab plunges into the wound left by the flying, purple sword, tearing it open...

Attack on Silvanost - Part 3

01 Newkolt 349 AC The red dragon still in the street scrabbles to its feet. It spins to face Raven, opens its mouth with a roar and unleashes a massive cone of fire at the elven swordsman. Cobblestones glow bright orange from the extreme heat passing over them. Raven crosses his arms in front of his face to protect his eyes as the raging inferno engulfs him. As fire consumes the street, Kysek moves along, silent and unseen to the far side of the dragon. He whispers, " Πέτρινο δέρμα" and his skin takes on the consistency of granite as he positions himself to strike. Shadow will survey the skies looking for the next incoming flight of dragons. The drow sees a flight of six blue dragons closing on his location. The creatures fan out with two remaining in the center while the other four spread out to the left and right by a distance of a few blocks each. Lightning erupts from all of them, blasting buildings and pockets of defenders as they close in on the dark elf's locati...

Big Foot

Image
As I was driving for work the other day, a rogue thought popped into my head. What if Bigfoot was just a Big Foot? Like, a giant foot just wandering the wilds of Faerûn or the Feywild or even the Pacific Northwest. No body. No larger creature it was attached to. Just a foot. Well, wonder no more! Big Foot CR: 3     Large Aberration     HD: 5d8+20 (44 hp) Init: -1     Spd: 40'     AC: 15 (–1 size, -1 Dex, +7 natural), touch 8, flat-footed 15 Attacks: (BAB +3; Grap +11); +7 Stomp: 1d6+5 (20/×2) or +7 Bite: 1d8+5 (20/×2) Special Attacks: Trample (1d6+7) Special Qualities: Blindsight 30', Tremorsense 60', Woodland Stride Align: N     Saves: Fort +5, Ref +0, Will +4 Str: 21, Dex: 8, Con: 19, Int: 12, Wis: 10, Cha: 8 Skills: Speak Common and Sylvan; Hide +3, Knowledge (Nature) +7, Listen +8, Move Silently +7, Survival +6 (additional +2 in aboveground natural environment...

Attack on Silvanost - Part 2

Image
01 Newkolt 349 AC Kysek sees the two dragons crash to the ground. He races along the street, silent as death. The carnage surrounding them is unbelievable. All around, he sees splintered kiosks, smashed storefronts with some buildings entirely collapsed into the street mixed with bloody smears of what were once elven revelers just minutes ago celebrating the arrival of the new year. He crouches behind some rubble, his well practiced fingers plucking the spell components he needs without having to look. He falls into his spellcasting and focuses on the two dragons that are just now getting their feet under them and calls out, " Καταιγίδα πάγου!" Hailstones begin falling from the sky, pounding the red wyrms with punishing force. Both beasts roar, their anger rattling the few remaining intact windows in their frames. "Master, look," Spewer's voice cuts through the din of battle, drawing Shadow's attention back to the ground and the fallen kender. The dark el...
