Silvanost - Holiday Cheer (New Year's Eve - Part One)

22 thru 30 Frostkolt 348 AC

Arthur pulls out a chair for Lady Agnes and pushes it in and takes his own seat.

"Once we get the tree to link with the others I should be able to return. And my plans? I was originally thinking I should return to my home in Lankhmar, but now I find myself seeking a real home."

He watched her for a moment, his hands wrapped around a half-empty mug, his voice low.

“You make the silence feel… safe.”

Agnes looked up, her eyes catching the light.

“I’d forgotten what peace felt like,” he added, almost to himself. “Until this place. Until you. I don’t know what path lies ahead. But if I could carry one moment with me… it would be this one."

Arthur stare for just a moment longer before shaking his head, "My apologies, Lady Agnes, I don't know what came over me."

"Do not apologize, good knight," she reaches out and takes his hand, "I know what you mean."

Cedron walks with Ra’ziir. He studies everything his ears and eyes perceive. “This is not liberty or progress, as it should be, BUT as it is forced to be.” he mumbles. “Raz, I’ve seen enough. We think we want this. We think we know what’s right for everyone. I can’t say that I’m angry that the worst elements of this society are the occasional peeling of paint on a shed.” Cedron pauses.

“But I’m not happy. Where’s the passion? The variety? The  … people? Is the answer to purge what doesn’t fit?”

Cedron gets quiet.  He turns around and starts walking back.

Romulus decides that with the end of the calendar year fast approaching, to spend a few days outside of the city, communing with the forest. He lets Raz, Shadow, and Cedron know where he will be and rides out on Macula, promising to return in time for the holiday. While he is gone, he practices the one spell he learned on the wizards' last visit to Wayreth Tower - one that will drastically plunge the temperature in a given area causing those within the spell area to freeze solid.

Ra’ziir has a similar idea to Romulus. He informs the Halfling and leaves a cryptic note for the Drow, that he intends to survey the coast and countryside, offering only “It has been too long since the griffons have stretched their wings…”

Shadow and Cassidy spend the morning after their night out nursing hangovers. They try to recover get some solid food down and connect with the rest of the party to say that they were unable to find Grotto. The pair asks if see if anyone else has encountered the scarred dwarf. When all they receive is answers to the negative, they decide to expand their search of the city.

Kysek tells Councilor Summerwalker, “Once I finish here for the day; we can meet up. I’ll explain more of our recent past. This will help you to understand more so our present. As for Raven's personal past; that is his to tell and not my place. I can tell you, ‘Some skill with a sword.’ may be a touch underexagerated.” The elven thief turned mage states plainly.

"If you don't mind, I shall wait for you to finish," Eilra replies. "The Council is in recess until after the holidays and the river between here and the sea is currently impassable so I have no pressing matters to attend."

“With no real seafaring training to offer; we’ll be done here by midafternoon. I’ll see you then.”, Kysek replies. Once training is finished for the day; Kysek meets up with the Councilor and begins telling her about the events that brought the party to this time and place.

Eilra shakes her head in disbelief several times over the course of Kysek’s tale.

As Kysek reaches the end of his story, Raven and Grotto come walking through the warehouse door.

Grotto is smiling broadly, "That. Was. AWESOME! Let me know next time Marzipan comes knocking! A little tomfoolery with the fae felt a bit like home!"

Raven groans and shakes his head. "I have had enough of faeries in the last twenty-four hours to last a lifetime. My head is killing me. After the wizards check out the loot, divide it as you want. I didn't see anything of interest to me."

He flashes a tired smile at Kysek, one that broadens a little when he sees Eilra. "It is good to see both of you. Grotto and I have quite a tale to tell."
