Tarithnesti - Defensive Preparations

Image
02 Deepkolt 349 AC Shadow fills Raven in on his plan to infiltrate the goblin camp, charm some to fight the others and drive them into the ambush. “So get some rest, I was about to go but we can roll out in the morning with the “You-guys-will-not-believe-what-we-saw-last-night tales” at the goblin camp Grotto looks for Ornforithalas. He finds the guard captain speaking with Commander Parnitha. The guard captain is sharpening his spear and looks up from their conversation. The dwarf explains to both his experience in the abandoned temple and his dream from the night before. The commander, who has just been informed of the slaughter at the homestead replies, "Whatever these goblins get, they have coming to them. You can call it revenge if you want, but it sounds like justice to me." Ornforithalas adds, "Kiri-Jolith is the god of justice. If you found a horn and saw another in your dream, it could be a vision. You said that the voice in the temple asked if you would figh...

Tarithnesti - Grotto and the Elven God of... Vengeance?

01 Deepkolt 349 AC TARITHNESTI Grotto looks to the head spymasters, Raz and Shadow. "It seems our allies here have helped us. If it pleases the spymasters, I have prepared a nice warm bed and filling meal for our comrades. Surely they are tired and need some rest. Will you have them follow me?" Shadow says to the goblins “Go with Grotto and he will fill your bellies and put you to bed. You did good.” Shadow smiles at them and encourages them to go on.  Once they have left he turns back to the others and says," Three of us could polymorph into those little murder hobos and walk into their camp and fireball them back into the Stone Age, and then fly back, fighting this way into our ambush. More direct approach but if there are 400 of them we need to thin those numbers.  What do you think?” Ra'ziir replies, ”I am happy to practice some of my more… ‘entertaining’ spells on live targets. Blocking their retreat should be the first priority, and then thinning their rank...

Tarithnesti - The Interrogation

01 Deepkolt 349 AC BACK IN TARITHNESTI "This is the longest cookbook ever!" Grotto thinks to himself as he finishes reading over a few more pages. The recipes themselves are fairly short, but each comes with notes on the etiquette surrounding their uses, to include occasions suitable for serving them, sides that pair well with each, alternate ingredients, and their origin. The dwarf gathers his things then stand watch around the camp. He looks to the skies waiting on the return of Shadow and company. Kysek awaits the return of his kidnapping comrades-in-arms. The smell of Grotto’s concoction gives the elven thief a fierce headache. He distracts himself with his spellbook and realizes he needs to speak with the other spellcasters in the group to learn the spells necessary to make “See Invisibility” permanent on both Dusk and himself. He thinks to himself; even if it doesn’t allow us to attack invisibly; it’d still be a good thing to have. Kysek then stands a watch, joining G...

Road Trip to the Dragon Isles - Ak-Baral

19 Newkolt 349 AC Arthur stares at the device. "Wow, that's handy." Once camp is broken down and breakfast is eaten, Arthur helps Agnes on to her horse as always and than gets on to his. "Alright, let's go." The group, now numbering five again, makes their way across the rocky desert. Phineas's strange mount is surprisingly fast but none of the horses like being near it and do their best to keep their distance. A few hours into the day, Davaa stands up in his stirrups, and signals a halt. He points down the trail, to a spot where the path draws close to a small oasis. "That's new," he explains. "Some sort of sinkhole must have opened up ahead. This whole end of the valley is littered with abandoned mine shafts and tunnels. We can water the horses but watch your footing down there." Arthur slowly makes his way down the trail to the water source and dismounts so the horse can take a small break but he keeps an eye out for dange...

Tarithnesti Goblin-nappers

Image
01 Deepkolt 349 AC Shadow and Ra'ziir fly low, skimming the treetops while searching for the goblin encampment. After traveling about nine miles, they drop into the forest and begin stalking their way along the snow-covered ground. The pair creeps silently through the forest, closing on the goblin camp with the inevitability of death. The flicker of firelight draws their attention and the two alter their course, heading off to the northwest of their original route. The chatter of goblinspeak carries through the chill winter air. From this distance, it is impossible to make out what is being said but the words, "salt," "you burning it," and "shove off" can be picked out. There is a brief argument and the sounds of a scuffle before one voice snarls, "Fine. You so smart. You do it." In less than a minute, the smell of cooking meat reaches Spewer, the scent picked out of the air by his forked tongue. "Tastes like...squirrel..." a fe...

Road Trip to the Dragon Isles - Enter the Gnome

18 Newkolt 349 AC The next morning, Davaa and Altan saddle the horses and prepare to take their leave of Alek-Khan. Arthur and Agnes join them a few minutes later and the group us soon on its way. They ride down from the foothills of the Skyfire Mountains and turn north once they reach the valley. To the east, the Sierra Khur range cast the valley in shadow as the sun creeps into the sky. "The fortress, Tur, stands at the far end of this valley," Davaa informs the others. "Once it comes into view, we will turn to the northwest and should reach Ak-Baral by sunset tomorrow." The day grows warmer as the party travels and the landscape changes from grassy plain to something much drier, transforming into a rocky depression between the two mountain ranges. It is not without water though. Streams created by icemelt running down from the heights carve shallow streams in the valley floor, giving the horses plenty of opportunities to drink along the way. Slightly after the...
