Silvanost - Graduation, Awards, and a First Assignment

Two weeks pass. Kysek and Ra'ziir continue to train with Wing Sergeant Silvervale and their mounts, eventually working alongside other riders. They learn the hand signals used to indicate commands and formations. Elowen delivers their custom saddles, each of which has straps to hold them in place during even the most acrobatic of maneuvers and two sheathes that provide easy access to wands during flight.

Alara and Sergeant Falindrithan complete the renovation of the civic building, establishing a war room, three squad bays for troops to sleep in, several storerooms stocked with caches of food, blankets, and spare weapons. Grotto and Lorraine convert another room into a hospital with medical supplies, bandages, clean water, and enough beds for ten patients at once and a second room where less serious injuries can be treated quickly.

Eilra carefully and conscientiously tracks and records party members locations as well as those of critical support staff. Ornforithalas joins Kysek's scouts, taking command of day-to-day activities while Raven institutes a regimen of physical training - most of which consists of running and calisthenics in the morning, followed by swordplay and archery. Every morning, Shadow is briefed on the day's planned events.

Late in the afternoon on the 22nd, Protector General Tederai, along with Sergeant Silvervale, three other officers, and the members of the Council, including Cuinar Elar who has taken Summerwalker's seat, arrive at the party's rapidly developing command center.

Ra'ziir and Kysek are officially recognized as full members of the 1st Division, 2nd Griffon Wing and are presented with silver braided Aiguillettes, denoting their rank. Additionally, by authorization of the Council, all party members who are present are gifted with an enchanted elven dagger, and are proclaimed to be Rauthar - Elf Friend - in the common tongue.

And finally, Cedron, Kysek, Shadow, Ra'ziir, and Raven are presented with the Silvanesti Lifesaving Medal for "the rescue of forty-seven citizens of Kurinost from a minotaur prison ship, which resulted in the sinking of one enemy vessel. Their determined efforts, outstanding initiative and fortitude during this rescue were instrumental in the liberation of the elves’ lives. Their unselfish actions and valiant service reflect great credit upon themselves and are in keeping with the highest traditions of the Silvanesti nation."

As the award ceremony comes to a close, General Tederai gives a salute to the gathered adventurers before dismissing his staff. He approaches his two newest griffon riders and Shadow. "I have an assignment for you. Take your squads and travel north to Tarithnesti. Our forces there are being hard pressed by the Second Green Dragonarmy. They have at least three companies in the area, mostly goblins and hobgoblins, but at least two-thirds of them are worg-riders. I need you to reinforce the front line and do what you can to turn the tide of battle up there."
