07 - 08 Newkolt 349 AC AT THE ABANDONED TEMPLE OF KIRI-JOLITH Grotto marvels at the molted sword and the power it has. He puts it back in its sheath draws it again and walks about to play with this new invisibility. "This could come in handy on my axe!" Thinks the wet dwarf. Grotto then examines the jars. It dawns on him that the horn from the other room and the horns on the jar lids must be the holy symbol of the war god! "It must have been the good that spoke to me! Surely there is a way to reinstate gods here then!" Grotto thinks excitedly! Grotto gathers all the jars and looks around the room one last time for any other hidden goodies, clues, or any thing his recently deceased foe may have dropped. After which, Grotto leaves the chamber to the main room, careful to avoid the pit trap, and heads up the stairs to the surface. 08 Newkolt 349 AC Note: Several NPCs in this adventure are based on those found in the Wrath of the River King module but have been adjusted for party level. The bard and the swordsman set out, following the directions provided by Marzipan. Trees, heavy with ripe, sugary plums, line the trail they walk along. Every so often, a light brown, animal-shaped cookie crosses their path, moving quickly to either scramble up a tree or hide behind a snowbank. Most of these creatures; bears, hippos, sheep, a monkey wearing a hat, are no more than knee-high but the one giraffe they see rises at least as tall as their hip. Cedron makes a mental note of all the creatures they pass. He admires the monkey's hat, wondering quietly if there's a monkey milliner that makes and fits the hats for his simian brethren. "I am taking these items so they don't fall into enemies' hands!" The dwarf tries to convince himself, "I am not a grave robber!" Grotto then descends the new found passage. He looks around the room and into the water for any hidden traps. Satisfied that he gave it his best once over, he wades into the water. The water is nearly chest deep on the squat dwarf! He lays his hand upon the breastplate of the elf and says,  "Great warrior, how I wish you were here with us. Your lands are under attack by a treacherous former ally. The murals tell the tales of your greatness. A warrior of your standing would be of great use to lead his people. Forgive me for taking your belongings. I hope your artifacts will rally a fighting spirit within your kin. "Surely he could not have been in this temple for this long and be so well preserved!" Grotto thinks the elf is in some sort of suspended animation. He examined the elf with his knowledge of healing to see if he can find any signs of life. After confirming that the elf is indeed dead, Grotto says a prayer to Hanseath to the fallen warrior. Grotto then looks around the room to see if he can find a way to move forward. He begins tapping the walls, listening for the faint echo that would tell him the passage continues. The dwarf's fingers trace along the tiles of the mosaic and the elven warrior at its center. Then, he finds it. A "crack" inside of a larger tile that is too perfectly geometric to be damage due to age. Several similar buttons radiate outward from the first. He raises his throwing axe, gripping it in both of his gnarled, calloused hands and gives it a mighty heave at the nearest statue. The weapon tumbles end over end and slams into the wooden warrior. The powerful blow shatters the dry wood and sends a shower of splinters across the floor. Grotto holds out one hand to catch the weapon as it returns to him. The remaining carved guardians continue to stalk toward the scarred dwarf. He can hear the creaking and cracking of the wood as they close in on him. Grotto swings his axe at the nearest.
