Silvanost - A Pardon and a Reunion
15 Newkolt 349 AC
“Councilor Elar; I apologize to you for any wrongdoing you have received. Understand there will be no more of this mistreatment in the future toward any but the enemies we share.” Kysek pledges. He then turns to the King; “Your Majesty; thank you for your generosity toward my companion. In Mr. Grimmbeard’s admission of guilt; I heard mention of ‘Dragonlances’? Are these a weapon you currently have in your arsenal? Forgive my ignorance; I have been very busy at the Aerie as of late.” Kysek asks as the mention of such a weapon piqued his interest rather quickly.
“May I pardon the King and Council to inquire about these fabled Dragonlances? My companions and I wish to help banish these evil Dragons back to their homes. These lances helped once, perhaps they could again?” Shadow bows before the King.
Lorac sighs, "The Silvanesti were not present in the battle where these 'Dragonlances' were allegedly used. We do not even know if they actually existed or if they are simply a piece of clever propaganda put forth by the Knights of Solamnia to curry favor with the people of Ansalon while discrediting the Orders of High Sorcery. I do know that after the battle where the Dark Queen agreed to leave our world, wizards were allowed to carry weapons to defend themselves after depleting their magical reserves so I suspect that the wizard Magus had a far greater hand in her defeat than history would have us believe."
"So are we still looking for the lances? Seems we are out of leads. I'm not sure where else to turn," Grotto says to Shadow.
Shadow bows his head to the Elven King and says, “Your mercy this day will not be forgotten and will have earned you the allegiance of this Dwarf as he makes amends for his transgressions.” He turns to Grotto, “Give it all back. All of it." Then he turns to Lorac, “Thank you again, my King. We will continue to strive to rid the kingdom of these Dragons. How may we serve best?”
Lorac smiles softly, "I am told that you, Councilor Creepingshadow, and another one of your companions have assumed command of scout platoons and facilitated the rescue of my kin from Kurinost. Keep doing what you are doing and I am certain that this war will soon be won."
“As you wish, ”Shadow replied with a bow.
"Thank you, for your mercy" Grotto says to the king, "Forgive me, Councilor, I didn't know you were under royal orders". Grotto hands over the artifacts he found in the tomb. "Be aware, when I found the tomb, I swear I heard others near, felt like I was followed. Best to place a guard at the entrance or wait till the war is over so these artifacts don't fall into enemy hands."
“Thank you Your Highness. May I be permitted to take my leave? I have an idea do discuss with the Wing Sergeant at the Aerie that may help us to eliminate some dragons," Kysek replies. On his way out, he looks to Respen, pats him on the shoulder. “Enjoy caring for your owl. I’ll come by later to see how you’re doing.”
AT THE AERIE
Ra’ziir turns to his Halfling friend, “Redclaw, I’d like you to meet Romulus and his friend Macula… they are both friends of mine.” Then to said friend, “What you brings you here today Romulus, is everything ok?”
"Greetings, Redclaw." The mage looks around, "I've just returned from the Tower and am trying to locate everyone to see where I can lend a hand. Alara said I could find you here and that Kysek has been called to the Council Hall. She had no word about Shadow or Grotto. I am told that Ornforithalas and the others may yet live?"
Ra’ziir stops what he is doing, “I must confess, I’ve not been tapped in to the goings-on of the others these last few days. I have spent most of my time here… and I have heard no word from anyone.”
The Eldritch Knight walks toward Romulus, leading Redclaw, but stops leaving a significant distance between the griffon and the large cat.
“Last I heard, Kysek had pressing business with the council, though I’m not sure what about…”
“How can I help?”
Romulus nods as he listens. "I am not sure. I spoke with Shadow some days ago. He came to the Tower looking for lore about some legendary weapon he believes will turn the tide of this war but I have not heard from him since. While at Lorraine's, I received a letter from Arthur, intended for Raven. He and Agnes are on their way to the Dragon Isles. Of Raven and Cedron, there is no word except that they have gone into Faerie to retrieve Cassidy and the others. I will seek out Shadow and Grotto. We should reconvene at this new bunker we are moving into."
Ra'ziir nods, “I will meet you there when I finish up here…”
IN THE WOODS OUTSIDE OF SILVANOST
Raven steps out of the glowing portal and scans his surroundings, making sure that there is no immediate threat before signaling the others to follow. Eilra Summerwalker steps through, blinking as her eyes adjust to the sunlight reflecting off of the snow. Cassidy Greenleaf follows, then Ornforithalas, a sack slung over one shoulder, his wife, Tephysea close behind.
She looks around, the hood of her red robes raised and breath fogging in the crisp, winter air. "It seems as though the dragons didn't pass this far north of the city." She pauses, "How bad was the damage to Silvanost?"
Raven speaks without turning to look at her, his voice flat, nearly mechanical, "Thousands were injured, hundreds killed, and many buildings were destroyed. We managed to slay two of the dragons and injured four more. We were lucky. In the aftermath, I went into the forest, searching for enemies to kill. I made it as far as Kurinost. The city had been completely overrun but we rescued forty-seven prisoners. We would have done more but such could not be risked without potentially leaving the city in ruins."
Raven closes his eyes, concentrating on the mental link he has with Ra'ziir. "I have returned from the fey realm. Ornforithalas, Tephysea, Cassidy, and Eilra have returned to us."
"We’re meeting at the new bunker soon.” Ra’ziir responds to Raven through their mental link, followed by directions to the location.
