Silvanost - Ground Rules Going Forward

THE COUNCIL HALL
Shadow takes his leave as well and fills Kysek in on his as of yet unsuccessful attempt to locate these Dragonlances. He seems disappointed and unsure. He says he had hoped for a solid lead and instead got entangled in this mess. No offense to Grotto’s efforts. Much to learn about this conflict and the game afoot. He vows to be more cautious as war is here and we are all in the fray.
AT LORRAINE'S
Grotto goes to his makeshift room at the temporary hospital. He looks around for Lorraine and tries to take a general vibe of the feelings of his pupils.
Lorraine, of course, is happy to see him and insists that he sit and have breakfast with her. She explains that Romulus had been earlier looking for him and that they had eaten together but she pours tea and offers buttered scones and some poached eggs. Once he settles in, other healers nod and smile.
He can't make out everything they say but does hear, "I told you he hadn't done anything" and "I knew he was innocent" and some disparaging remarks about the city guard "treating the master like a common criminal" and that "they should be ashamed of themselves."
Grotto hears the mumurs. A wave of guilt washes over him. He stands to address his students. "Fellow healers, my brothers and sisters in health. Do not look at the guards in anger. Their actions were just. They protect all in this city in this time of war. In times of desperation, in times when your enemy breaks your spirit, these are the times we look for the slightest glimpse of hope to turn the tide in the favor of the just and innocent. The search for this hope led me astray. I was blinded by the light of that hope. I followed that light until my frustration passed the source of the light into the darkness. I am not without guilt in these matters. My friends, Don't let the wars take your "humanity". It took a piece of mine. War, war never changes!"
"I will not let you down again! We will battle the enemy fighting our way to our wounded! Healing them so they might repay those wounds they received ten times over to the evil we must defeat! The victory of our cause and the lives of our people is in your hands! If you will still have this flawed dwarf as your leader, we will fell their hordes or I will die beside you bandaging the wounded!" Grotto says trying to rally his troops and boost the morale.
Grotto then sits back with his mentor. A sheepish half smile crosses his face as he ignores Lorraine's eyes, afraid that the pupil has let down the teacher. He takes a long pull from his flask then looks to Lorraine saying, "So Romulus is looking for me? Where can we find him?"
"He is gathering everyone down at the civic building," Lorraine replies.
AT THE AERIE
Kysek goes to the Aerie to search out the Wing Sergeant. Once he finds him; he inquires about an idea he had. The gold elf explains, “I believe the actual number of dragons our enemy has is fewer than we think. The problem is with their rider; they won’t fight to the death. They flee after extensive injury to be healed. Only to return another day. If we can render the attacking dragons flightless; they stand less a chance to escape. I believe that if we focus attacks upon the wings of the dragons while they are airborne; force them to walk home to be healed; perhaps our ground forces could decimate them leaving us with fewer and fewer dragons to deal with. What do you think?”
Sergeant Silvervale chuckles, it's not just the riders." The riding master looks at Kysek for a minute before continuing, "From what I have seen and heard of you and your compatriots, you are the most confident, potentially arrogant, warriors I have ever encountered. On the battlefield, you expect victory, deservedly so - much like these dragons. They expect to win. They have never been challenged and when you arrive, that changes. They retreat, not just to preserve their own lives, as any sane creature would do, but to reassess what has gone wrong with their plans."
After speaking with the Wing Sergeant, Kysek goes on to tend to Dusk. “Sorry I’m late. Pressing counsel matters had me detained," he states as he enters her stall. Once completed; the elf takes his leave. “Sorry I have to leave so soon. I have one more thing I must do before I meet my friends. I’ll see you in the morning; get some rest.” The elf takes his leave and goes off to visit Respen as promised.
Ra’ziir continues to work with Redclaw as originally intended. Once they have completed some fundamental maneuvers in unison and to satisfactory level of competence, he will unsaddle the griffon, telling him “I must go meet with the others to plan our next move against the dragon armies… I will return once that’s concluded and maybe you and I can finally take to the sky together. Think on that while I’m gone and I will see you again soon my friend.”
Ra’ziir then makes his way to meet with the rest of the party..
IN THE WOODS OUTSIDE OF SILVANOST
Raven tells his small group that they are to meet Ra’ziir and the others at what the bladesinger called "the new bunker". Ornforithalas and Tephysea excuse themselves, informing the group that they will be heading home to see their son before they do anything else.
AT ELAMYAR'S HOME
Kysek reaches Elamyar's house, a modest three-story tower made of fitted stone and crystal. While there the mage shows the boy ways to help train his new companion. After spending some time with the boy; he tells him, “You have a fine owl there Respen. Keep working with him. I’m happy for you. Have a good night.”
As the elf turns to leave, a familiar voice greets him. "Hello, my friend." The Knight of the Barrie Grange turns and sess Captain Ornforithalas and his wife, Tephysea, framed in the doorway of Respen's room. The boy leaps up and runs to his patents, barreling into them like a lightning bolt, "Mama! Dad!"
The pair crouches, tears in their eyes as they hold their son.
AT THE CIVIC BUILDING
After parting ways with Ornforithalas and Tephysea, Raven leads the remainder of the group to the party's new headquarters beneath the otherwise unused civic building. Within, he finds Alara pouring over page after page of inventory as the detritus of centuries is shuffled from the chambers the group is claiming to other storerooms in the connecting tunnels.
Romulus smiles as the group enters and throws the coat Raven took from the minotaur he slew to the swordsman. "Try it on. It should change size to match you. I think you will find that it has some useful properties for one in your line of work...." The halfling nods to both Eilra and Cassidy as he explains what the enchanted coat can do.
Cassidy's eyes go wide as he takes in these new surroundings and he makes an immediate beeline for one of the many crates that are stacked for relocation. "Oooohhhh... what's in the boxes?" The kender nearly squeals with excitement. Alara makes a note to introduce the "Lost and Found" policy that was in use at both the healing house and warehouse while the group was staying at those locations.
Eilra embraces the scribe and smiles. "You look busy. I assume these men gave you a bunch of commands before running off to pursue their own interests and left you to fend for yourself."
The archivist laughs, "Not entirely, Councilor Creepingshadow stopped by last night to make sure I was handling things and thank me for my efforts. And Ra'ziir gave me coins and said to get myself 'something nice', if you can believe that!"
The blond elf joins in the laughter, "High praise, then. What can I do to help? I was held in an enchanted sleep for over a week and need something, anything, to do."
Alara leans in close, "I know what I would be doing if a handsome elf swordsman came to my rescue in the fairy world..." her eyebrow rising slightly.
"There's been some of that and I'm planning on more later but right I now, I want to be useful for more than just that," Eilra replies. "Wait? Councilor Creepingshadow?"
"Elar retired after the attack and you were thought dead. He accepted a temporary position."
"Good for him, better for me. I never really cared for Council politics," the captain states bluntly.
"Daebella didn't care for your approach to the Council, either. I have in-depth records of your arguments." Alara passes Summerwalker a box, "Start with this box, take its inventory, label it here, move it to the pile by the door, and give me the list. And then repeat, and repeat, and repeat."
Eilra looks at the box and then the form and then back at the box. "Is it too late to back out and run off with my handsome elf swordsman?"
"Far too late, you're committed now," Alara laughs.
When Ra'ziir arrives at the civic building, he walks in to discover Alara and Eilra giggling amongst themselves.
Romulus looks around, silently taking roll, and casts a trio of messge spells, asking Shadow, Grotto and Kysek to join him at their new headquarters.
Kysek; hearing Romulus’ message in his head replies, “I’m on my way my friend. I had a couple small tasks to accomplish. Be there shortly.”
Once Grotto, Kysek, and Shadow rejoin the others, Romulus calls the meeting to order. "It is good to see that everyone has found ways to help the city while I have been gone. It is even better to see those we thought lost returned to us. However, when I got back nobody knew where anyone else was. Shadow, we elected you to be our leader. Were you aware that Ra'ziir and Kysek have been training with the griffon riders? Did anyone know that Cedron and Raven ran off to Faerie? Or that Grotto was exploring an abandoned temple?"
Romulus draws a circle in the floor. "This circle," he begins, "is to be kept clear at all times. I want everyone capable of casting teleportation spells to commit every detail to memory. This is the target we will return to every time we cast the spell. Alara is already overworked getting this place in order so someone will need to keep track of who is going where and what they will be doing. We need to check in if something comes up and our plans change and someone needs to have a representative getting updates from House Protector regarding troop movements and enemy engagements." He turns and looks directly at Raven, "No one is to go running off half-cocked, looking for revenge or picking a fight without backup. I don't care how skilled you are in a fight or what spells you are capable of hurling, we are all just one individual. The same tactics we use against the dragons, ganging up and overwhelming them with spells and steel can be used against us if we aren't careful."
