Silvanost Council -

Image
26 Gildember 348 AC Grotto is totally lost in his own thoughts. The only things that bring him back to the moment are the raps of the gavel. He hears the barbs and snide remarks but the words may as well be the chirping of birds in the distance. He continues to weigh the offer of becoming head master of t he healers college. Kysek unable to hold his tongue any longer as Ornforithalas is; in his opinion being disrespected steps forward. He slightly bows as he says, “Esteemed council members. Allow me to introduce myself. I am Sir Kysek Creepingshadow Knight of the Barrie Grange. Rest assured; we were not out and about to break treaties. We were out to lay witness to unverified rumors of your enemy possibly breaking the very treaties you speak of. We were out to observe; should we have found the evidence we needed, we were merely going to bring it back and report it. We were ambushed on our journey by something worse than the goblins we expected. We were ambushed by Dragonfolk who were ...

Silvanost Council - Internal Conflict

Image
26 Gildember 348 AC Ornforithalas rises. "Members of the Council, that is an oversimplification. We had received reports of goblin activity along the Bay. These goblin reports had been notated on a map, along with potential giant sightings. I determined that a more thorough investigation was justified." Elamyar, the red wizard, cuts him off several times and something about his attitude makes it seems that he is personally angry at Ornforithalas. Daebella, the scarred female, is more detached but still comes across as mad, and although most of her ire is also directed at the guard captain, it "feels" more like a professional disagreement on her part. Cedron, being an outsider takes in the dynamics of the council. He tries to determine the power-structure of the members both implicit and explicit. “I fear anything we say will be used against us or our allies.” He thinks to himself. “Maybe the most productive conversations are held outside the forum.” He continues t...

Silvanost - Lorraine's Offer and the Council Meeting

Image
22 Gildember 348 AC Grotto shares a bit of the flask with Lorraine and gets to know her better. She invites him to sit, "You have the makings of a great healer within you. I was quite impressed by your lesson today. It should come as no surprise to you that I am old. I would like to retire soon. It would be a comfort to me if I knew someone competent was running the House when I am gone. I would like for that to be you." Grotto blushes and smiles at the request. "I am flattered that you think so highly of me and my skill. I would love to teach generations the ways of a healer. The only drawback to this offer is that i am unable to commune with my god, Hanseath. I made a pledge to him when my life was saved from misery and torment through his works. Also, how would a dwarf be accepted leading such a prestigious post here in this place of elves? You are the only one here to make me feel welcome." Grotto says sadly, his words trailing off to his thoughts of loneliness...

Silvanost - Enter the Council

Image
22 Gildember 348 AC Ra’ziir delves deeper into his studies. He looks for any additional information on Death Maw and the Solamnic Knights. Information about the dragon is limited mostly to the tome he already found but there are several apocryphal references in a handful of reports dating back to the last war. On the subject of the Solamnic Knights, he finds dozens upon dozens of books about them. He quickly learns that they are a brotherhood of noble warriors sworn to an Oath, "Est Sularus oth Mithas" - translated as "My Honor is My Life" and are bound by a code of behavior known as the Measure which consists of thirty-seven three-hundred page tomes. There are many who blame the Knights for the Cataclysm as one of their number, Lord Soth, had a chance to avert the Cataclysm but turned from his quest for selfish reasons. Shadow takes Cassidy to find something to eat and passes the time telling him about his Drow upbringing and his people's extensive use of poi...

Silvanost - Downtime

Image
22nd Gildember 348 AC Cedron informs the others that he is taking a few hours to make a visit to the Tree of Progress to pray. He invites Arthur and anyone else who wishes to join him for some prayer and meditation. Arthur follows along and is joined by Agnes. The silver-haired elf, clad in a green dress trimmed in white with a leather belt trails quietly, walking beside the paladin. "I am glad to see that you have returned unharmed." The pair follows Cedron to the Tree and sits quietly while he prays. Agnes simply watches and listens to his words, fascinated by his piousness - something unheard of since the Cataclysm. When he is done, she asks, "Your god, this Malazzarr , does not answer your prayers. How do you know that hasn't turned from you as our gods have turned from us?" "Agnes, because I have faith, and I know that the gods are not as omnipotent, as some teachings may suggest. Our gods need us as much as we need them. So, I know the same way a b...

Silvanost - The Return (Part 2)

Image
22nd Gildember 348 AC The guard captain tells Lorraine about the summoned storm and the dragonmen, how they turned to stone or exploded when slain, and how two of his scouts were slain in battle. The healer sends word to Alara, asking the scribe from House Recorder to come and hear his tale. The ebony-haired elf soon arrives, accompanied by Agnes who becomes visibly distraught as she listens. "But who could create such abominations," she asks, her eyes troubled and distant. Her gaze hardens, "Tell me more about these creatures." Alara speaks, "I will inform Councilman Elamyar. He is a member of House Recorder. I will ask him to convene the Council. They will know what to do." Lorraine nods, "I will see what we can do for the injured. The wounds do not seem too bad - it looks like these boys did a good job with their initial treatments." Cedron begins working with the healers. Helping when allowed and observing and watching their techniques otherw...

Return to Silvanost

Image
22nd Gildember 348 AC Shadow says “We can help move your wounded.” “I can Teleport at least some of us to Silvanost…” Ra’ziir offers the group. Romulus stands and stretches. "I haven't finished preparing my spells for the day. If we can wait an hour, I can ready a spell that should be able to carry all of us at once and take us directly to Lorraine's healing house." Cedron continues tending the injured as best he can with non-magical means. Bandaging wounds and cleaning to fend off potential infection. “I will stay with the wounded until we can work out how best to transport them.” says Cedron as he works. Grotto stays behind with Cedron and Shadow to help with the injured. Ornforithalas instructs his remaining men to prepare the dead for transport. "I will have to inform their families of their fates when we return to Silvanost. Kysek goes to Ornforithalas; places his hand upon his shoulder and says, “Mourn for those you have lost; yes. Also celebrate thos...

Balifor Bay - Aftermath (Part 2)

Image
22nd Gildember 348 AC Grotto is marveled by the healing properties of the candies Raven produced. "How did you do that?" He asks Raven. "This will come in hanfy later for sure! What magic is this? Might i be able to replicate these with my alchemy wares?" He presses. Raven's mouth drops in surprise. "I didn't know those could do that. I just thought they tasted good." "They just appeared in your hand though! Where did they come from!" "Oh, that. I... summoned them. It's part of my... new position... in the Seelie Court." "Seelie Court? Is that something that happened when you disappeared in the mushroom circle? What else did they bestow upon you?" Raven nods, "Yes. And I'm not sure. The fey are never very forthcoming." After chatting with Raven, he looks at the dust pile of the former foes. "Nothing here but poor equipment and a few coppers. Goblin bait for sure!" Grotto says with disa...

Balifor Bay - Aftermath

Image
22nd Gildember 348 AC As the echoes of the explosions die away, the group moves in to investigate the remains. Shadow and Cedron remain aloft, scouring the forest for any other creatures that may be lurking nearby but spot nothing. Cedron glides along the back trail, looking for signs of where the monsters may have been lurking. After several minutes, he locates a spot where it looks like several creatures may have been watching the party from the night before. Grotto grabs the handle of his trapped axe and heaves, tearing it free from the draconian statue. The scarred dwarf laughs, "Well, I've seen folks full of hot air before but this one wins! He deflated and flew around like some sort of balloon!" His eyes dart from one companion to the next, taking in their injuries. Raven, Kysek, and Arthur all sport several small cuts from splinters and shrapnel, anything life-threatening turned aside or absorbed by their enchanted armor. Arthur returns Lawbringer to its sheath, ...
