Balifor Bay - Aftermath

22nd Gildember 348 AC

As the echoes of the explosions die away, the group moves in to investigate the remains. Shadow and Cedron remain aloft, scouring the forest for any other creatures that may be lurking nearby but spot nothing. Cedron glides along the back trail, looking for signs of where the monsters may have been lurking. After several minutes, he locates a spot where it looks like several creatures may have been watching the party from the night before.

Grotto grabs the handle of his trapped axe and heaves, tearing it free from the draconian statue. The scarred dwarf laughs, "Well, I've seen folks full of hot air before but this one wins! He deflated and flew around like some sort of balloon!"

His eyes dart from one companion to the next, taking in their injuries. Raven, Kysek, and Arthur all sport several small cuts from splinters and shrapnel, anything life-threatening turned aside or absorbed by their enchanted armor. Arthur returns Lawbringer to its sheath, wipes himself off, smearing soot and ash across his breastplate. He shakes his head, clearing away the aftereffects of the explosions.

Some of the scouts who were caught at the edges of the multiple blasts lie wounded, bleeding from many deep wounds. Ornforithalas checks on his fallen men, his head sagging under the weight of loss. Cassidy follows quietly and places a hand on the elf captain's shoulder.

Raven joins them, ears ringing from the explosions and sees that at least half of the elves are not going to make it. Not knowing what else to do, he extends his left hand, palm down to the ground and closes his eyes. A small pile of hard candies appears in his right hand and he offers some to the dying men, "I'm sorry. It's not much but, here. Something sweet to help ease your pain."

The first scout takes a candy and starts to crunch it. His bleeding stops and some color returns to his cheeks. Taken aback, Raven doles out the rest of the candy. Each elf who takes it seems to recover slightly, their cuts scabbing over. None of them are in any condition to walk but death no longer seems quite so imminent.

Romulus, who is kneeling beside the initial blast site, feels a sharp twinge of pain where his missing finger should be, draws a small knife and begins sifting cloth and ashes aside. He is joined by Kysek and the two find a charred book. Within, the two discover partial maps of the coast, including a picture of the cover where the party was attacked by the giant lobsters.

Ra’ziir sheathes his obsidian blade and moves in to inspect the remains of the draconian assailants. As he reachea the first petrified corpse, it collapses in a shower of dust, leaving behind its armor and weapons. The other statues crumble within the next minute or so. He finds a mixture of coins, all in different denominations and from multiple nations. The swords bear no single identifying mark. The same can be said for the armor. The bladesinger blows out a long sigh, nothing in the slain warriors' gear gives any indication of where they came from.
