Silvanost Council - Internal Conflict
26 Gildember 348 AC
Ornforithalas rises. "Members of the Council, that is an oversimplification. We had received reports of goblin activity along the Bay. These goblin reports had been notated on a map, along with potential giant sightings. I determined that a more thorough investigation was justified."
Elamyar, the red wizard, cuts him off several times and something about his attitude makes it seems that he is personally angry at Ornforithalas. Daebella, the scarred female, is more detached but still comes across as mad, and although most of her ire is also directed at the guard captain, it "feels" more like a professional disagreement on her part.
Cedron, being an outsider takes in the dynamics of the council. He tries to determine the power-structure of the members both implicit and explicit. “I fear anything we say will be used against us or our allies.” He thinks to himself. “Maybe the most productive conversations are held outside the forum.” He continues to ponder as he observes the nuances of each member.
Arthur watches intently eyebrows furrowed in concentration as he tries to follow the conversation and track the interplay of the five Councilors.
Grotto silently listens to the events unfold. His mind is preoccupied with the his recent offer. "Oh, to have Hanseath's guidance!" Grotto thinks.
Ra’ziir has the same thought, coincidentally, as Cedron.
The Black Robed Elfemental, instead of waiting to corner the councilmembers after the meeting, closely observes each to determine the nature of the apparent schism among the council members and their respective factions.
It is immediately obvious that all four of the younger Councilors defer to the elder at the center. This Cuinar does not appear to favor any single speaker over the others. Adfaren gives the impression of a young man in over his head trying to impress his grandfather. He seems intelligent but uncomfortable in front of people.
Eilra, when her turn to speak arrives, commends Ornforithalas for taking action instead of sitting on his thumbs, glaring at Daebella as she adds that last part. The scarred Councilor opens her mouth to respond but a sharp rap of Cuinar's gavel cuts her off. "Councilor Summerwalker, do not bait Councilor Rainbrook." The sailor nods her head, "Yes, Councilor Elar. I will do my best to restrain myself."
"See that you do, or I shall have it done for you," the ancient elf replies coolly.
The sailor nods again, "Yes, sir."
Raven, only half-listening to Ornforithalas' report, pays close attention to the blond councilor's reactions. Her angry statement about the minotaur boarders has given him the impression that she doesn't trust these Dragonarmies either.
Romulus yawns, bored by the proceedings, especially since he wasn't present for the battle with the dragonmen and anxious to get down to the business of snaring the Time Dimensional.
Cassidy, who was banned from attending the meeting, or even entering the hall, takes a seat in the back, "disguised" with a fake mustache and beard made of hay. The guards pretend not to notice him, hoping if they don't pay attention to him, that maybe he will get bored and leave of his own accord.
Kysek; though standing quietly, doesn’t hold his facial expressions or internal thoughts well. A scowl grows on the Knight of the Barrie Grange's face as he takes exception to the condescension in the counselors tone toward his friend. His thoughts take on a “What the hell is this guy saying? We’re trying to protect them?” attitude. Bubo seeing that his master is having trouble concealing his ire, stretches and pretends to yawn, concealing Kysek's face behind and his right wing. In his mind Kysek hears, “You’ve never been one who could keep emotion off your face. If you intend to stay quiet unless needed; I suggest you start learning this now.”
