Day Three of the Odinsleep (Spoils of War)
Day Three of the Odinsleep (NOON – 5 pm)
While Ivaldi works on Raven’s sword, the party takes some much needed rest from the rigors of the morning’s battles and divides the loot acquired thus far. By noon, the last of the snow has melted away, the flowers have fully bloomed all over the fields surrounding the city and as the afternoon wears on the leaves on the trees begin to change from brilliant greens to bright yellows, russet reds, and deep oranges. The air takes on a chill and every now and again, a flake of snow drifts lazily down from the sky.
Once during the afternoon, a messenger arrives in search of the group but Ivaldi shoos him away with curses and muttered threats. Drax remains slightly apart from the group, long-ingrained habits of unobtrusiveness holding their sway over him. Instead of joining in with the more boisterous eaters like Grog and drinkers like Hansuke, the former assassin watches and listens, taking in what information the more talkative members of the group are able to procure.
Everyone thanks Ygrid for the food and drink and seems to enjoy her hospitality. Finally, the properties of the magical items have been ascertained through the combined efforts of the wizards and the party members begin dividing everything up. Most of the gear is divided amicably between the group members with the disposition of a few contested items being decided by dice rolls. Among the spoils, Grotto claims a suit of plate armor, another large axe, and some finely woven vestments while Desmond claims a robe of eyes for himself. The rest of the division mostly consists of scrolls, wands, a ring and a pair of books. The competition for the last two items is particularly fierce but, with just a few holdout die rolls remaining it LOOKS like Kysek will claim one that is written in some sort of code consisting of 1’s and 0’s with the one on leadership going to Arthur.
As the sun begins to set, the temperature drops even further and a chill wind blows in from across the plain. Snow starts to fall in earnest and the messenger returns once more – this time to escort the adventurers to the mead hall, Valhalla.
