Long Lost Friends – Arrival at Jack's Castle

 14 Feb 1371 (1828 Grimmlands calendar)


Knives, Chronosaj, and the two travelers they rescued from Rapunzel's Tower spend two days walking through the Great and Awful Forest. While the group walks, the adventurers speak with Anna and Kristoff about the events leading to their capture. The kingdom they come from, Arendelle, is threatened by the Southern Isles following the events surrounding the coronation of Anna's sister, Elsa. Anna and Kristoff were sent on a mission to recruit support from Rapunzel, only to discover that she had been killed and her body animated by a colony of spiders. Neither knows precisely how long they had been prisoners but it is likely that several weeks had passed.

Finally, the castle of Jack Nimble came into view. It had been several months since either Knives or Chronsaj had laid eyes on the place. Still. they had good reason to expect a warm welcome, given their roles in helping overthrow the Rotten King Humpty Dumpty and his vicious queen Cinderella. That was, unless word of Knives' embezzlement of Hamelin's treasury while acting as Mayor for the city had spread this far.

Thankfully, as the four travelers approached the gate, there seemed to be little need to worry as the guards recognized them and called out with friendly greetings and as they entered the main courtyard, Queen Jill Horner was present to meet them.

He lays his hand upon the breastplate of the elf and says,  "Great warrior, how I wish you were here with us. Your lands are under attack by a treacherous former ally. The murals tell the tales of your greatness. A warrior of your standing would be of great use to lead his people. Forgive me for taking your belongings. I hope your artifacts will rally a fighting spirit within your kin. So...after we get through the whole story I have planned and the characters can use Malazzarr's trees to go back and revisit worlds , this could be a thing... - - - - - Raven twisted the throttle on the hoverbike's steering column and pulled back. The repulsorlift vehicle screamed into the sky, the thunder of its engine and the roar of the wind was almost loud enough to drown out the sirens of the corporate security vehicle chasing him.  The world had changed dramatically in the thirty-eight years that had passed since his last visit. AT THE ABANDONED TEMPLE OF KIRI-JOLITH Grotto is surprised to see such a well preserved body. "Looks a lot like the elf in the murals" Grotto thinks. "Surely he could not have been in this temple for this long and be so well preserved!" Grotto thinks the elf is in some sort of suspended animation. He examined the elf with his knowledge of healing to see if he can find any signs of life. After confirming that the elf is indeed dead, Grotto says a prayer to Hanseath to the fallen warrior. AT THE ABANDONED TEMPLE OF KIRI-JOLITH Grotto searches for clues in the kindling. "A map, a key, something to let me know the way to go." Grotto then looks around the room to see if he can find a way to move forward. He begins tapping the walls, listening for the faint echo that would tell him the passage continues. The dwarf's fingers trace along the tiles of the mosaic and the elven warrior at its center. Then, he finds it. A "crack" inside of a larger tile that is too perfectly geometric to be damage due to age. Several similar buttons radiate outward from the first.
