🐊 Gustave: the Demon Crocodile of Burundi 🐊

The people of Burundi have been hunted by a demon for the last 30 years. A crocodile known as Gustave is allegedly responsible for the deaths of over 300 humans and is so large and powerful that he is thought to be bulletproof and hand grenades are only capable of driving him off. His dark green scaly body is covered with the numerous scars from old wounds.

Gustave: the Demon Crocodile of Burundi
CR: 8     Huge Outsider (Fiendish/Monster of Legend templates)     HD: 14d8+126     Hp: 186
Init: +9     Spd: 20', swim 30'     AC: 24 (-2 size, +4 Dex, +12 natural); t: 9, ff: 15
Attacks: (BAB +10; Grap +35); +21 Bite: 2d8+18 and +19 Tail Slap: 1d12+18
SA: Improved Grab, Frightful Presence, Smite Good
SQ: Darkvision 60', DR10/magic, Fast Healing 5, Hold Breath; Low-Light Vision, Resist Cold/Fire 10, SR19

Str: 37, Dex: 18, Con: 29, Int: 3,  Wis: 14, Cha: 6
Skills: Hide -1*, Listen +13, Spot +12, Swim +21
Feats: Alertness, Endurance, Improved Initiative (b), Improved Sunder, Multiattack (b), Power Attack, Skill Focus (Hide)

Frightful Presence (Ex): Gustave is so terrifying that when he roars creatures with fewer HD within 20' must make a Will save (DC15) or be Shaken until out of range
Hold Breath (Ex): Gustave can hold his breath for 116 rounds before he risks drowning.
Smite Good (Su): 1/day, may make a single attack that deals +14 damage to a Good-aligned opponent.

Skills: A crocodile gains a +8 racial bonus on any Swim check to avoid a hazard or perform a special maneuver. It can always take 10 on a Swim check, even if distracted or endangered. It can use the Run action while swimming, provided it moves in a straight line. A crocodile gains a +4 racial bonus on Hide checks when in the water. Further, a crocodile can lie in the water with only its eyes and nostrils showing, gaining a +10 cover bonus on Hide checks.

For AD&D, I would use stats for a normal giant crocodile, add the Special Defenses of "Only Hit by +1 or better weapons, ignores the first 10 points of cold and fire damage" and include his Smite as it is already worded.

Incorporating Gustave into your campaign: A large and murderous reptile preying upon the human populace of any area is bound to attract adventurers and/or bounty humters. It is also possible that a cult begins worshipping the beast and secretly aids it by feeding hunters false information. Additionally, since Gustave lives in the real world, his actual history is perfect for a group of characters in a modern setting.
