Silvanost - No Navy and Spell Prep

26 Gildember 348 AC

Raven, knowing that he must get in time for Romulus' ritual tries to keep his conversation with Eilra brief.

(I can't draw and while I friends who can, they do not have time to devote to my little blog. That said, the website I use has drastically changed the "flavor" of its art so Raven is giving off "Duncan MacLeod" from "Highlander" vibes).

"My companions and I have come up with a plan. We intend to begin quietly moving elves out of the outlying towns here to the capital. I had thought that we could use the elven ships, which you do not have, to harass the minotaur vessels to prevent them from landing troops on the coast and maybe steal or sink their supplies."

Summerwalker shakes her head, "Yes. That would have been a good plan. Perhaps, instead we can create obstacles to place along the beaches where we expect them to come ashore. Maybe even place some just beneath the surface of the water at the mouths of harbors and bays."

Raven nods, "In Waterdeep, a coastal city where I come from, they have rigged chains for just that purpose. They are normally left slack to allow ships to pass unimpeded but when enemies are sighted, they are drawn tight to entangle oars and rudders."

"That sounds exactly like what I had in mind," the Councilor says with a smile, "We could discuss this more over dinner?"

Raven shakes his head ruefully,  "I am afraid that I cannot do that tonight. One of our wizards is performing a ritual to reverse the damage to the bracers I wear and restore them to full function. May I postpone until tomorrow evening?"

Eilra smiles, "I will hold you to that. Do not disappoint me."

"I wouldn't dream of it," Raven replies with a bow.

When Raven returns to Lorraine's after his meeting with Councilor Summerwalker, he updates the group on the elves' lack of a navy.

Grotto scoffs, "How do they live by the sea but have no defense against this very thing? Not stopping them at sea then. Maybe we can hijack one of their ships as they are making land and unloading? Once we get on board, the ship is ours. A few of us can fly and teleport to a ship. Take it over, and repeat till we have a handful of ships. Fly the enemy's flag under cover till we can beef up the fleet!"

"They have riverine and littoral craft but no warships. Being isolationist, they have never had need of them."

Kysek says to his old friend, “No navy? While that’s not in our best interest; we can work with it. As our dwarves friend has stated, we can commandeer their ships one by one to add to our quest. “.

Grotto summons who he feels are the most skilled, and more importantly most trusted of the healers to Lorraine office to meet with him and the head mistress. He reminds then of the alchemy classes he gave and tells them to begin to prepare large amounts of pain killers and antiseptics. He tells them to be well stocked with bandages and sutures. Grotto tells the group to not only have stocks of these at the house of healers, but to also take some supplies home with them. During this special operation, a despicable enemy will surely target a hospital Grotto thinks. Grotto teaches a few impromptu lessons to other healers about how to quickly triage and stabilize people when multiple injured arrive at once. He gives detailed instructions how to deal with the brutal wounds that are a part of any war.

Afterwards, he then looks to Lorraine and says,  "Think they are ready? Surely some have figured out what is going on with these preparations."

Lorraine takes a deep breath, "Is it ever possible to be truly ready for something like this? Our people will do their jobs to the best of their ability. We must maintain our faith in them."

Back at Lorraine's, Romulus retreats to his quarters to rest and prepare his spells. "Time Dimensionals are able to summon duplicates of themselves from other points in the timeline. In addition to mind-altering spells, I will need all of you to keep those duplicates from mobbing me while i bind the original creature."

“Excuse me? Duplicates of who will be mobbing you?  And how many are we talking about?” Shadow looks up from his book of spells and incantations with an odd look. “I’m over here looking to sink ships or polymorph into a dragon turtle and now we are fighting time bandits?  Which first?” Shadow closes his book and laughs “Never a dull moment to fish or bake a ham.”

Romulus looks up, "Uh, the Time Dimensional? For the binding to repair Raven's bracers? I'm going to summon and bind it tonight. And from what I understand as many as five copies of itself from different points in the timeline."

“Oh, that,” Shadow replies.

Arthur makes his way over to Lady Agnes, "For as long as I'm here, I will help you in any way I can. Just tell me what is needed of me."

"Of that, I have no doubt, Sir Knight," Agnes smiles. "I'm sure your skills and bravery will be sorely tested before this war is over."

As the sun begins to make its way toward the western horizon and the shadows of night begin creeping across the forest, Romulus gathers the party. "It's time to go. Sunset is the limninal period between day and night - as close to two times as we can get. If we cast the spell just as the sun touches the horizon, it should make binding the Dimensional easier."
