Raven - Creation Influences

Raven is based largely on Madmartigan from "Willow". This is probably not that unexpected. Madmartigan claims to be "the Greatest Swordsman that Ever Lived."


But, you may be surprised to learn that he is also based on Ernie Keebler.

Green Coat? ✔️          White Shirt? ✔️ 
Yellow Pants? ✔️        Red Shoes? ✔️ 


The only thing I can't get my image generator to make correctly is his hat which should look like the one worn by Zorro, but red instead of black. It keeps making him look like an escapee from the set of a "Three Muskateers" movie, or worse, like Will Turner at the end of the first "Pirates of the Caribbean".

BeyBlades for D&D

Turns out that my kids are into the whole “ Beyblade ” thing and the only thing the youngest one asked for this year for Christmas was a “Winning Valkyrie” Beyblade.   Aside from knowing that the game is basically a modernized version of battling tops and that there is a cartoon to promote the toy, I knew absolutely nothing about Beyblades up until this weekend. As I watched the boys play with their new “Beys”, I found myself fascinated by their game and the way they talked about different types of strategies and customized builds for their tops.   I gave some thought to a “BeyBlog” that would focus on different combinations of parts, the results of mini-tournaments, product reviews, and maybe a breakdown of individual episodes of the show (although how they managed to wring enough drama out of top-spinning to produce three seasons of the show with over 50 episodes per season confounds me entirely). Silvanost - Battling the Dimensional (Parts 5 & 6)

Romulus continues his spellcasting, his total concentration focused on χρόνος and the binding magic. χρόνος rages against the enchantments being laid upon him then suddenly stops. A voice speaks directly into their minds. "You cannot hope to contain my corporeal form. Cease your attempt or I shall visit my vengeance upon you and your forebears, erasing you from existence." The two duplicates facing Raven redouble their efforts. Both attack with great, sweeping arcs of their tendrils. Raven's blades weave a mesmerizing dance of defense, reaching out to parry swings before they can generate any momentum, anticipating the intended angles of their blows. With each deflected or interrupted blow, he snips away shreds of cloud-infused limbs. I promise that I am working on the next part of the binding of Time Dimensional but I had an idea for another Monster Trucker character so I thought I would do it up real quick. Throwback Post (The Temple of Talos)

Background: The party had left Tsuragol and were headed east. A storm sprung up and the group took shelter in an abandoned roadside temple dedicated to Talos. The events that followed would launch them from the familiar environs of their own world into a foreign and hostile land. The Temple:   Originally built nearly fifty years ago, this temple has been abandoned for almost a decade after the worshippers were slain by members of a nearby druidic circle. An unsettling aura of evil still hangs over the ruin, almost as if the very stones used in the temple's construction remember the foul rites that were once performed here.  The temple was built along the western shore of the Easting Reach to take advantage of a naturally occurring weather phenomenon: tornadoes and thunderstorms.  Cold dry air sweeping down from the Earthspur and Galena Mountain range collide with warm humid air from the Sea of Fallen Stars to generate powerful storms. "It was a stormy night when a bolt of lightning forced me off the road.  My car skidded into a government laboratory where a top secret experiment was underway.  I swerved into the path of Dr. Chase's Molecular Transfer Ray, causing me and my car to become one...the Incredible Turbo Teen!" For the past few days I have been thinking off-and-on about this old cartoon from the 80's and, after a little bit of poking around on the internet for details that had escaped my memory over the course of the last 34 years, I put together what I feel is a fair representation of Turbo Teen.
