Why We Haven't Changed Systems

I came across an article the other day and it got me to thinking.

Look at your character sheet. Think about the time and effort that went into making the character that piece of paper (or electronic screen) that represents.

I converted from 2nd edition to 3rd and then to 3.5. It took hours, in some cases a day or two, to switch from one ruleset to the next while maintaining the original "feel" of the characters. 

I have the 5e books. I read through them. There is NO WAY that I could take the characters we have and faithfully adapt them to the new rules. I may as well just start over.

But we haven't reached the end of our story yet. I want to see how it all turns out. 

So, at least for this campaign, I'm sticking to 3.5e.

Beldam (Other Mother from Coraline)

I watched the movie “ Coraline ” for the first time this weekend.   Don’t get me wrong, I’ve seen snippets of the film here and there over the years and I recognized the character when the movie started but I have never sat down and Watched the movie (or read the book).   By the time the show was over, I have to admit that I was fascinated by the entire thing.   The animation and pacing were incredibly well done and the main antagonist was delightfully wicked.   This is who I want to focus on today – Beldam, a.k.a. the Other Mother.   Some viewers may think that she was some sort of demon, offering children their heart’s desire in exchange for their souls, much like a crossroads demon but I feel like she more closely resembles a faerie, a member of the Unseelie Court who is allowed a great deal of independence in her operations.   I also think that since the protagonist, Coraline, was just a child that Beldam wouldn’t necessarily have been overly power...

Grotto then takes the horn to investigate what it could be. As the priest of Hanseath touches the horn and lifts it from its stand, a feeling of warmth spreads throughout his body. His aches and pains fade away, leaving him feeling refreshed. The gold shines with a soft glow, illuminating the chamber. The Staff of the Oaken Serpent

The Staff of the Oaken Serpent is a short, almost club-like staff covered in a mottled green and yellow leaf pattern. The stout end of the staff vaguely resembles a serpent’s head. Constant Powers: Quarterstaff +3/+3 Invoked Powers: By touching the staff and speaking the appropriate command words, the wielder is able to cast the following divine spells from the staff at the cost of one charge (CL8 or wielder’s Druid level, whichever is higher) - Call Lightning, Entangle, Obscuring Mist, Summon Nature’s Ally V Additionally, if thrown to the ground, the staff transforms into a giant constrictor snake that obeys all commands of the owner (in animal form, it retains the +3 enhancement bonus possessed by the staff form).
