Armageddon and Annihilation
In today's tale, I present something that straddles the line between what we have come to think of as a Western with something a bit more fantastical. I am presenting this in the d20 format because I will be incorporating this (or something close to it) in my ongoing campaign: https://beekaydubya.blogspot.com/2018/04/my-play-by-post-campaign.html

Judge Issac Parker, the infamous Hanging Judge of Ft. Smith, Arkansas, had long suffered from
Bright's Disease. He was forced to take a summer off from his judicial duties when
his health took a turn for the worse.
As he grew closer to death, he prayed, as all desperate men do, to be
spared. While God and His angels did not
choose to grant the judge's prayers, another entity was listening.
Mephistopheles offered to restore the judge's life as long as he continued to sentence men to death. Parker still died but at the moment of his passing he was sent back to Earth with a pair of pistols with which to punish the wicked whenever the rope isn't handy. The Judge fulfills his promise to the devil and sentences dozens more men to die at the gallows. A group of "adventurers" finally encounters the Judge after they act outside of the law and kill a band of cattle rustlers of horse thieves. The Judge appears to punish them for their vigilante actions.
The party can “kill” the Judge but he rises from death to continue his pursuit of “justice” unless defeated with a bullet blessed by a priest or they agree to a trial and win the ensuing legal battle with the Judge. If defeated in either way, the Judge dies, leaving behind his Hellfire Pistols (Armageddon and Annihilation).

These pistols are great! After I convert them to AD&D 2e I intend to drop them into my "Masque of the Red Death" setting! Nice work!
ReplyDeleteThank you! I am glad you like them.
DeleteAlso I would like to see what you come up with for them.
