Balifor Bay - Roadside Feast
19 Gildember 348 AC
With the giant lobsters defeated, Knives remains vigilant, watchful for the arrival of other marine predators.
Cedron continues flying and performs a perimeter sweep looking for other potential threats in the area. “I seem to recall the smaller versions of these crustaceans were sweet and delicious. I’m hoping these larger ones are the same.” He muses privately while scanning the area.
Ra’ziir utilizes the remaining time on his spell of flight to assist Cedron in reconnaissance.
Arthur joins in on the recon mission and between the three of them soon find a scattering of torn cloth and shattered bone fragments. There are a few small spatters of blue blood so whatever was killed put up a fight before dying.
Grotto goes and inspects the beasts. He looks at the meaty claws and tails. "Half cooked already thanks to you two!" Grotto says with a hearty laughter looking at the magic users. Grotto then carves up ample portions from the claws and tails! "With this meat and the things I foraged, we will eat good tonight!" Grotto looks to Shadow and says, "A roadside meal fit for a king! Your favorite!!" Grotto says with much excitement! As Grotto butchers the animals, he keeps an eye out for any unusual treasures the lobster may have ingested.
Shadow flies Cassidy over to Grotto. “And now you my friend get to feast like a King, as well.” He lands beside the scarred dwarf and examines the slain beasts. “You know what they call these things? We call them 'dinner', right Grotto?”
Cassidy strokes his chin thoughtfully, "I think they are called 'Hammerclaws' but this is the first time I have ever seen one. There were some sailors back in Eastguard who had accidentally caught one in their fishing nets. They said that when it clacked its claws at them, it was so loud that it bowled over men and horses that were standing nearby."
The dark elf nods, "And if you were the elves, what would you have done, had no wizards been here to assist?"
"I don't know. These things are pretty big and probably have a hard time moving around on land of they aren't going in a straight line. Try to lure them between some of these bigger rocks so they couldn't get at me with those claws and try to hit them from the side or the back?"
The kender pulls out his lute, adjusts the tension on his strings before plucking a few notes,
🎶 🎵
"The lobsters go crawling one by one.
Hoorah! Hoorah!
The lobsters go crawling one by one.
Hoorah! Hoorah!
The lobsters go crawling one by one.
The little one goes out for a run,
and they all keep crawling as fast,
as they can,
along, on the sand.
Snap snap snap!
The lobsters go crawling two by two.
Hoorah! Hoorah!
The lobsters go crawling two by two.
Hoorah! Hoorah!
The lobsters go crawling two by two.
The little one stops to say “thank you”,
and they all keep crawling as fast,
as they can,
along, on the sand.
Snap snap snap!
The lobsters go crawling three by three.
Hoorah! Hoorah!
The lobsters go crawling three by three.
Hoorah! Hoorah!
The lobsters go crawling three by three.
The little one dives into the sea,
and they all keep crawling as fast,
as they can,
along, on the sand.
Snap snap snap..."
🎶 🎵
The song goes on for several more verses with Butch eventually counting all of the way up to ten.
Shadow shakes his head, "Definitely a bard..."
Ornforithalas gives the slain monsters a quick once over, taking in their size and presumed battle prowess. "My men and I would have been hard pressed in a fight against goes of this sort had you wizards not done the bulk of the work. If any goblins had tried to come ashore here, they would have most likely met a gruesome fate. It might be best if we push what's left after Grotto does his work back into the sea. This much carrion would prove a tempting feast for any scavengers that may be lurking in the area."
Kysek twists his ring once more, reappears, and descends to the ground. He replies to Ornforithalas, “You are correct. The size of these beasts will bring many predators. Large ones; by land and sea. It also let anything we may be looking for know that something is coming if they’re anywhere near here. Which could be good or bad. We should get these off shore and continue our search. I’m sure our meal will be delicious once we make camp this evening.”
