What Do You Mean He Can't Climb? He's Like 30th level?!

When I went to write This Post, I was surprised to discover that Raven has basically Zero Ranks in Climb.

None.

Zilch.

Nada.

He's the highest level character in the party and can't climb any better than Farmer Fred or Joe Commoner.  Even worse, he doesn't have any magical items that confer Flight, Levitation, or Climbing ability.

Someone is definitely going to have to spend some points in areas that have been neglected over the years.

07 Deepkolt 349 AC ON THE BANKS OF THE THON-THALAS Grotto casts a pair of spells, one to double his size and the other to make his skin as hard as the rock he was sculpted from . Suitably enhanced, he nods to Ornforithalas, "Let's go!" The scouts move forward, as quiet as the grave and close in on the enemy. Once they are close enough, Grotto leaps up and shouts, "COME FIGHT ME YOU OVERGROWN GECKOS! THE LAST THING YOU'LL SEE IS MY AXE AS IT SPLITS YIUR SKULL!" With that, he hurls his blade. It tumbles end over end and strikes the nearest kapak in the center of the chest, bowling it over and knocking it into a nearby baaz. Grotto's axe flies back to his hand as the elves open fire. Dozens of arrows streak into the mass of reptilian troops. Four go down in thr opening seconds of the fight.   07 Deepkolt 349 AC ON THE BANKS OF THE THON-THALAS Grotto motions to Ornforithalas, "Let’s send the archers to try to flank them. Me, you, and a couple other can go straight at them to draw their attention. Perhaps we can end them this way." The guard captain listens to Grotto's plan and agrees. He motion for fully half of his archers to break off and swing around to the far side of the Draconians. Jensolyn frowns, "I don't recognize the kind in the middle. Grotto looks again. The center draconians stand a little over six feet tall with the curling horns of a ram. It takes about a minute for the scouts to carry out their flanking maneuver. DAY ONE (Day Three of the Odinsleep), 9:30 am Shadow launches himself into the air, racing to a height even with the face of the towering Jotun.   His rigid metallic fingers struggle to perform the precise motions required for the spell and the arcane power is slow to respond.   The dark elf shouts, “ Πυροσβεστική ” and points at the massive giant but the fireball fails to detonate. Raven, still shaking off the blow from the Jotun’s grazing axe, grabs the hilt of the cursed sword, Thorgrim.   His vision instantly goes red as rage floods into his body.   All thoughts of tactics and strategy are swept away by the primal desire to hit, slice, stab, and kill the giant standing before and all around him.   The elf snarls, spitting foam as he dashes in between the Jotun’s feet.   The cold iron blade, enchanted specifically for giant-slaying burns in his right hand as it rips through the giant’s thick boots, slicing into the tendons and ankle bones while...

02 Deepkolt 349 AC Shadow fills Raven in on his plan to infiltrate the goblin camp, charm some to fight the others and drive them into the ambush. “So get some rest, I was about to go but we can roll out in the morning with the “You-guys-will-not-believe-what-we-saw-last-night tales” at the goblin camp Grotto looks for Ornforithalas. He finds the guard captain speaking with Commander Parnitha. The guard captain is sharpening his spear and looks up from their conversation. The dwarf explains to both his experience in the abandoned temple and his dream from the night before. The commander, who has just been informed of the slaughter at the homestead replies, "Whatever these goblins get, they have coming to them. You can call it revenge if you want, but it sounds like justice to me." Ornforithalas adds, "Kiri-Jolith is the god of justice. I never set out to create a shared universe for the campaigns that I run. I simply started introducing Player Characters from previous stories as NPCs out of, well, basic laziness. Still, the opportunities this has provided speak for themselves considering that nearly all of the characters in my current campaign have come from these previous stories. Everything up to this point has been leading to a crossover that ties my D&D campaigns in with the “modern” settings will happen on Earth-218 - a world where DC and Marvel characters both exist (and is home to the Marvel Superheroes campaign I ran back in high school).   This is where the gaming materials I have for Colonial Gothic, Boot Hill, Gangbusters, Call of Cthulhu , d20 Modern (and its supplements), the James Bond Role-Playing Game, and Star Wars plus several other smaller settings (Kill Puppies for Satan, Infestation, Creeks and Crawdads , Toon, and Ninja Burger) will all be combined into what hopefully turns out to...

Benjamin Franklin's Lightning Musket

I am thinking  about a prequel for the Western campaign I am going to run. It would be based on my own world but use concepts from the Colonial Gothic setting and 3.5e rules for compatibility with my other campaigns . Magic would exist but practitioners stay mostly hidden because of the Salem Witch Trials, the Inquisition, etc . The party would be mostly spies, saboteurs, and troubleshooters in the employ of the Continental Army or the Sons of Liberty. There would be some Steampunk-esque inventions running around but these would be one-of-a-kind items and only rarely encountered.  One example of this technology would be Benjamin Franklin's Lightning Musket . This weapon is made of stout red oak and reinforced with brass fittings. When the trigger is pulled a forked bolt of lightning erupts from the weapons twin barrels. The bolt has a range of 150' but is wildly inaccurate, incurring a -4 penalty to attack rolls. The weapon is powered by a battery that sits on top of th...
