What Do You Mean He Can't Climb? He's Like 30th level?!

When I went to write This Post, I was surprised to discover that Raven has basically Zero Ranks in Climb.

None.

Zilch.

Nada.

He's the highest level character in the party and can't climb any better than Farmer Fred or Joe Commoner.  Even worse, he doesn't have any magical items that confer Flight, Levitation, or Climbing ability.

Someone is definitely going to have to spend some points in areas that have been neglected over the years.

Greta walked in, brushing her hair and found her mother seated at the table, sipping her coffee as she was finishing getting ready to go to her job at the Fairhaven Baptist Church. He taps his heels into the griffon's flanks, urging greater speed from her and she slowly overtakes the leading edge of the retreat. Kysek falls into his spellcasting, drawing energy from the world around and shaping it to his will. With a cry of, " Цлоудкилл" a green cloud boils up out of the ground, engulfing the riders and their mounts below. Shadow sees the cloud form and circles back toward the raging blizzard. He shouts to Ra'ziir, “That didn’t last as long as I had hoped!  But sure was fun.   CHAD The show was over. The station was closing down for the night. Greta, her spirit buoyed by the unexpected pep talk from Dusty and Celestine, exited Studio D. For a second, she thought she saw someone standing in the doorway across the hall, a tall thin man but when looked again, nobody was there. She stepped out of the side door of the cinderblock broadcast bunker, locking it behind her, and dropped her backpack into the milk crate on the back of her bike. The crunch of tires on gravel and the sweep of headlights across the face of the building drew her attention. She turned. To her surprise, Chad Williams, the Boy Who Had Been Quarterback when she was in high school, opened the car door and stepped out of his father's old Ford Mustang. Why We Haven't Changed Systems

I came across an article the other day and it got me to thinking. Look at your character sheet. Think about the time and effort that went into making the character that piece of paper (or electronic screen) that represents. I converted from 2nd edition to 3rd and then to 3.5. It took hours, in some cases a day or two, to switch from one ruleset to the next while maintaining the original "feel" of the characters.  I have the 5e books. I read through them. There is NO WAY that I could take the characters we have and faithfully adapt them to the new rules. I may as well just start over. But we haven't reached the end of our story yet. I want to see how it all turns out.  So, at least for this campaign, I'm sticking to 3.5e.

Man, looking back, the 80s were frickin’ weird.   Ignore for a moment Glam Rock, Parachute Pants, New Coke, and Flock of Seagulls haircuts and think about the how the Decade of Excess gave birth to some of the most iconic and enduring pop culture icons of all time: Transformers, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, He-Man, Thundercats, and the list goes on and on. The character I’m going to talk about today is not on that list. Anywhere. And for good reason.
