Balifor Bay - Draconians!

22nd Gildember 348 AC

Raven loosens Nightwatcher in its sheath and stalks forward, intent on the party’s unseen enemy. His eyes dart around, taking in his surroundings, compiling every detail as the party closes in on their foes.

Romulus chants, "Tvopitlop" and his flesh takes on the consistency of stone before drawing his scimitar, Verdantwrath, and grasping it with both hands. Macula's feet pad silently along the forest floor, a mere whisper that none but the most skilled listeners could hope to pick up.

Grotto follows the trackers, axe in hand and at the ready in case things become violent.

Ra’ziir follows the trail with the others, though he keeps toward the rear of group. He pulls the hood of his black robes low to block the sun from his damaged face.

While he keeps an ear out for any unusual sounds, the elf also takes the time to observe the martial  discipline of Ornforithalas and his troops. The Eldritch Knight mentally notes any strengths or weaknesses as he sees them and ponders how his arcane mastery might be of use to better take advantage of that information.

The bladesinger notes that the guard captain and his scouts have good communication, each seems to have a general awareness of what their comrades are doing but compared to Raz and his companions, Raven and Kysek in particular, they are talented amateurs.

Arthur draws Lawbringer and his shield and follows Raven. The holy blade glows dimly in the morning light.

“I knew something was trying to slow our pursuit! I also know the storm would possibly have followed us. The good news, Mr. Greenbeans, you shouldn’t need worry about giant lizard folk landing on you as they fall from the trees," Kysek states plainly. He places his hand upon Blackflame as he sees Raven rest his hand upon his sword. He follows closely behind his long time companion; sticking to the shadows and keeping his eyes moving looking for anything Raven may miss or movement ahead that may go unnoticed. He also sends Bubo to scout ahead silently and report back what he sees.

A small, floating eyeball, roughly an inch across hovers in the foliage, watching the trail as the party moves along the path below.

Kysek whistles for Ravens attention. Once Ravens attention is subtly received the gold elf mouths, “We’re being watched.” He moves his eyes only to the direction of the floating eyeball to show Raven exactly what is happening.

Raven shifts his eyes in the direction indicated by Kysek. When he spots the floating eyeball, he curses under his breath and then announces to the group, "Whoever it is knows we're coming. Everybody, MOVE!"

As the group reaches the edge of the clearing, their enemy comes into view. A dozen, heavy-bodied lizardmen with short, stubby wings, clad in chain armor and armed with a mix of axes and swords begin to fan out. Their dull scales, tainted with the green patina of copper coins left exposed to the elements for too long, glint dully as they spread out. At the center of the group stands a much taller, gold-scaled figure. Wearing dirty red robes, this figure is much more draconic in appearance. A bony frill fans out around the base of its skull. It is gaunt, with skeletal limbs and hollow, sunken cheeks. Golden-brown eyes narrow as it gazes upon the adventurers. Rows of serrated teeth fill its jaws.

"Kill them. No witnesses. For the glory of the Dark Queen!" The creature raises its hand, its claws blazing red with arcane energy.
