Day Four of The Odinsleep (The Battle Begins)

Now, before we get started, there IS a third map that I am not showing here.  Cedron, Ra'ziir, and Shadow all have the ability to see invisible creatures (Cedron with his True Seeing spell and Raz and Shadow with the permanent spell ability so their players are receiving maps that show the locations of the enemies while the rest of the group is "shooting blind" as it were - instead, using the "grid" running along the top and side of the map, they will target squares with spells/ranged attacks/etc).

Day Four of the Odinsleep (Noon- 5pm)

Korbin allows the Norns to continue feeding him.  He closes his eyes, exhausted from the ordeal and sleeps deeply, unaware of the changes that are happening to him.

At Cedron’s warning, nearly everyone leaps into action.  The priest’s prayer has enabled him to see the approaching dark elves but  Ra’ziir and Shadow have permanent spells in effect that reveal the enemy as well.  The bladsinger shouts out “Festina” and waves his hand through the air, spreading his magic to envelope as many as his allies as he can.

Shadow whispers “Πέρα από την πτήση εδάφους” and lifts into the air, floating inches above the surface of the wall as he takes in the sight of the Svartaflar as they close in on the group.

Grotto stays beside Idunn, “If I must be a bodyguard, I should stay near the body I am to guard.  It is hanseath’s way to fulfill my duty.”  The scarred dwarf looks up at the goddess and says, “Not to worry, my most powerful godliness, I will protect you as I have been instructed.”  The dwarf aches to rush forward, his Hanseath-inspired bloodlust conflicting with his desire to see the goddess lay waste to the enemies with her unbridled power, her show of force an aphrodisiac to the dwarven war-priest.

Cedron takes the offensive and snatches an enchanted horn from his belt.  He raises it to his lips and blows a long, strident blast.  Magical waves of sound wash out from the horn’s bell, blasting away at the Svartaflar.  The blast only engulfs the leading half of the group, the others being too far away to be affected.  Of those struck, half raise their hands to cover the ears and manage to weather the brunt of the attack.  The others are too slow to react and are battered and deafened by the amplified blaring of the musical instrument.

Drax fades from view and moves closer to Idunn, ready to strike should any enemies draw near.

Kysek races forward, slipping between Idunn and Arthur and shouts out “Холодный холод!”  A cone of enchanted cold pours from his fingers washing over all but the two farthest Svartaflar.  The daring rogues throw themselves flat or raise their cloaks or tumble to one side to avoid the mystic onslaught.  Not a single one is touched by the frigid emanations of the spell.

Niklas moves forward, his bow held at the ready with an arrow on the string, waiting for a target to present itself to him.

Morn dashes ahead as well, willing his Truesilver Whip to elongate to its maximum length and sweeps it across the top of the wall, hoping to strike or entangle someone, anyone, amongst the unseen foes.  The lead Svartalf is nearly struck but manages to skip over the lash just before it strikes his ankles.

Desmond opens up with his bow, firing arrows along the top edge of the wall at the unseen targets. His first shot comes closest to hitting, just barely skimming over the shoulder of the last Svartalf to clamber atop the parapet.

Raven races toward the water.  A squad of trolls and ogres are battling a platoon of Einherjar along his path.  The elf focuses, concentrating on his destination, determined not to lose himself in the exultation of the immediacy of battle.  He waits, watching the ebb and flow of the fighters.  Both sides exchange several blows without inflicting any fatalities and as soon as Raven sees an opening, he dashes forward, dodging blows from three different ogres before reaching the cover provided by a tree.
