Day Four of the Odinsleep (Against the Lone Jotun)
Day Four of the Odinsleep (5pm)
As her summoned wall is reduced to rubble and the Jotun steps forward, Idunn reaches into a pouch at her belt and pulls forth a single acorn. She closes her eyes for just a moment, infusing the seed with her divine magic and hurls it at the massive giant. The acorn explodes in a massive fireball, engulfing the Jotun from the waist down. The giant howls as his flesh is burned away and he leaps back, using what remains of the stone wall to shield him from the rest of the blast.
Korbin skims the ground, the wind rushing past him as the Jotun he and Raven were attacking falls. The crow pulls up, his wings flapping furiously as he gains altitude once again. He angles, pivoting in midair to come at the last Jotun atop the wall from behind and shifts his grip on Laevaetinn as he twists into a tight roll and rakes the dagger across the giant’s back as it crouches behind its makeshift shield. The blade slices smoothly across the small of the titan’s back, leaving a long gash in its wake as Korbin drops back over the edge of the wall and out of the reach of the giant.
Arthur raises his sword hand to his helm, triggering the magic within and disappears in a flash of light. He reappears in the same moment directly above the giant and drops onto its shoulder, slashing with Lawbringer. The holy blade flashes brilliantly as its makes contact with the brute and leaves a smoldering cut down the side of the Jotun’s face, running from one ear to its massive jaw.
As Drax closes in on the giant, he sees his spell of concealment dissipate. He whispers the words, “الخفاء السريع” as leaps over some of the loose rubble and vanishes once more. The assassin’s lead blade carves through flesh as easily as butter. The giant roars, launching a kick that Drax has to drop flat to avoid. The foot shatters another section of wall, showering the killer with falling bits of debris but Drax manages to escape harm all the same.
Grotto, not letting Ra’ziir get away from him just yet, calls upon his god once more, channeling more healing energy through his hands and into the bladesinger. Cedron reaches over, snatching two of the scrolls from Ra’ziir’s pouch and passes one to the dwarf with instructions to only use them to keep the fighters on their feet. The priest then looks over the wall and sees Raven racing to its base. The minstrel aims his ring at the raging elf and lifts him from the ground, carrying him to the top before releasing him to drop toward the encircled giant. With his wounds on the mend, Ra’ziir launches himself toward the Jotun with a spell on his lips and his sword in hand.
Kysek, still concealed by the enchantment of his ring, continues to float toward the giant. The thief clears the edge of the wall and cancels the spell emanating from his boots. He drops, plunging Blackflame into the giant’s thigh and rides it down like a pirate splitting the sail on a ship at sea. Blood pours forth in a torrent and the nimble elf kicks off, launching backwards and allowing his enchanted clothing to deposit him safely on the ground.
Desmond and Niklas both continue to draw and fire arrows as quickly as they can, showering the giant with feathered shafts but both are so far away that their shots serve to do little more than annoy their powerful foe.
Ra’ziir, newly rejuvenated, shakes his arms to loosen them and plunges back into the battle. The words of a magical incantation pass his lips and five bolts of mystic energy pour from his left hand. The energy bolts bounce off of the giant and carom away harmlessly but the attack buys him enough a distraction to strike with his obsidian sword. Shaped from a piece of obsidian taken from the slopes of Mt. Uungau on the far off world of Nehwon and enchanted with the magic of Wonderland’s Vorpal Sword, the stone blade stands out boldly against the blue sky. The sword trails volcanic smoke behind it as Ra’ziir closes in. The Jotun raises his axe to defend himself but the bladesinger is too fast. Grumbar’s Razor cuts back and forth with blinding speed, slashing through the armor covering the giant’s chest and leaving a series of deep gashes in its wake.
Once Cedron has lifted the berserk Raven high enough with his ring, he releases its magical effect. Raven, like Arthur before him, drops onto the giant, fully enraged and with both of his blades in constant motion. He attacks with savage strength, chopping and hacking with no finesse, no skill, just raw anger. His fury impedes his assault, missing with several blows that would have landed had he had a clear head but even so, his manages to draw blood and the giant’s attention away from his other companions.
Shadow commands his water elemental to attack last Jotun. The liquid monster rushes up against the base of the wall, its waves washing up the side of the barrier but it is simply far too high for the creature to reach its intended target. The drow swoops in, hovering out of reach and hurls a bolt of lightning at the Jotun but the blast fizzles when it makes contact with the frost giant.
Hansuke races across the top of the wall, rapidly closing in on the Jotun and leaps into the air, kicking it solidly with a flying attack. The tattooed monk hears a meaty crack when his blow connects but the giant seems little phased by the strike.
The Jotun brings his axe around in sweeping arcs. The first swipe and second swipes are directed at the flying bladesinger. The massive axe is nearly impossible to dodge and the newly healed bladesinger is crushed with a pair of punishing blows. Raven is slammed once and knocked into the remains of the stone wall which cracks from the force of the impact. He falls forward onto his face but gets up, blinded to his injuries by his anger and rushes back in to the fight. The close confines of the stone box hamper the giant’s ability to strike the berserk elf with another blow and the stone wall is further reduced to rubble.
