Jamaros vs Baatar (Round Two)

18th day of the Month of Conflict, 126th Year of Factol Haskar’s Administration

The door closed behind Jamaros and he hears the lock click shut, “Knock out er tap out, the only way this door opens again.” The filthy gnome looks up at Jamaros and a broad smile spreads across his face, “O’ course, you already know th’ third way out, don’ cha, little man?” The cruel little gnome pocketed the key and stepped away. Above the cries of the crowd, Jamaros could hear Felgar chuckle, “I wonder how much the Mortuary would pay fer prime cuts of yer carcass. Ain’t no comin’ back from a second death, after all.”

“Whatever, gnome. I want to place on a bet on myself. All of the gold I have in this pouch to win.”

The barbarian turned away from Felgar and hefts his massive axe, Heaven Scraper. Jamaros and Baatar stared at each other from across the ring. Jamaros growled deep in his throat. All he wanted to do was to leap upon his enemy and tear out his throat with his teeth and claws. The rational part of his mind screamed to be heard over the hunger, bidding him to study his foe and not rush in blindly, arrogantly.

The walrus-man cut an imposing figure, towering over even the undead barbarian’s impressive height. Its knuckles were nearly dragging the ground so it would have an incredible reach. It had claws on its hands and feet but of more immediate concern were the tusks. The ivory teeth were as long as Jamaros’ forearm and looked incredibly sharp. The Thanoi was wearing some sort of spotted hide armor that covered its chest, shoulders and the upper parts of its arms and legs and it held a cruelly edged stone axe in one of its massive hands.

Jamaros shouts across the ring, “I hope you have said your goodbyes because here I come!” The ghoul leaps into action, racing across the ring with his axe at the ready. The Thanoi’s squinty eyes open wide as the hulking undead barbarian comes racing forward. Baatar shifts his grip on his own stone axe and plants his feet firmly, shoulder-width apart and waits until the last possible moment to swing his weapon.

The stone blade strikes the barbarian’s pauldron and splinters of rock go flying when the weapon impacts the heavy armor. Jamaros’ own axe strikes hard, gouging a huge swatch of flesh out of the Thanoi’s leg. The walrus-man leans in, opens its jaws wide and brings it massive tusks to bear. One of the teeth punches down into the space between the undead barbarian’s breastplate and neck and drives deep into Jamaros’ chest, piercing his unbeating heart.

Aside from a little pressure, Jamaros feels no pain at all and pushes the Thanoi off with the haft of his axe. The two fighters circle each other near the center of the cage.

Jamaros: 91% health
